  • @orangemonkey777 ah, interesting! It looks like your analytics setup is partially complete, but no “profile” is selected (based on the “profile_id_not_set” error code).

Can you check the Analytics settings? Go to Site Kit -> Settings then click on Analytics, then Edit (https://cl.ly/445ba3b2286c). The verify that a value is selected in each of the three drop downs “Account”, “Property” and “View” (https://cl.ly/59f40d413014). Grab a screenshot here please.

Even if nothing changes, go ahead and click the “Confirm Changes” button and then check the Site Kit->Analytics page again to see if anything changed.

If you see the same error, you can further debug the “Confirm Changes” step by checking the settings requests that goes out to the REST API in the debugger’s network panel. Specifically the request goes to [DOMAIN]/wp-json/google-site-kit/v1/modules/analytics/data/settings and the data sent should include a value for accountID, profileID and propertyID.

@orangemonkey777 super helpful, thanks again. We’re interested in getting more info about the “callback” error you pointed out here. Could you provide us the following:

    1) In the browser console, go to the Network tab and click on this error which should be a red URL under the Name column (you may need to refresh the page to get the complete list).

    2) Go to the Response tab, and copy and send the response code that you see there

While not related to this issue, this is a video example of what we’re looking for.

Let me know if you have questions!

@orangemonkey777 could you update to the new version 1.4.0, and let us know if the issue still persists for you?

@reneesoffice Sorry, I was travelling last week. Anyway, I solved the problem, but don’t know what did it.

    – On the Analytics account, I had two profiles on the same account tied to the same website. I tried to erase one, but ended up erasing both accounts. So I had to recreate a new analytics account.
    – And link the account to Google Ads.
    – Then I had to erase all old Google tags and add a new one to the site.
    – I erased the old Site Kit and installed the latest version.
    Still didn’t work.
    – I checked and saw that a plugin, Squirrly SEO was somehow adding the old Analytics account in the php-code. It couldn’t be found in cpanel, but in Squirrly there is a section to disable Analytics.

After this the Site Kit problem disappeared. Though, I ended up losing all history on analytics.

@orangemonkey777 Many thanks for the update, great to hear that you managed to get this resolved. Out of curiosity did you also update to the latest version of the plugin when testing?

    Thread Starter orangemonkey777

    (@orangemonkey777)

@jamesosborne Yes, I did update to the latest version of Site Kit.

Also, the original problem wasn’t due to Squirrly SEO, since I installed that just a few days ago.
