I volunteer with an organization that is looking to improve its membership method by going online. They have a few hundred members and a few different types of membership. Non-members, Free Members, Individual Paid, Family Paid, Associate Business, and Affiliate Business. Currently, it is all organized by the membership chair using a spreadsheet. This is fine for the membership chair but does not benefit the membership in any way.

I have searched for Business Directory PLugin and Membership Plugin etc. but there are a lot to choose from and I would like to narrow it down with a solid recommendation. Hope that is acceptable.

Different Membership Types / Restrictions
We need a business/membership directory plugin that allows multiple different levels of membership (as above) and allows different content to be displayed for different levels. Business members will often offer discounts to the paid membership to support the organization but they only want paid members to access those discounts.

Annual Renewal Notices
We need the system to send automated renewal notices each year letting them know about their upcoming membership renewal.

Online/Offline Payment
The majority of our members, of all types, pay in cash or cheque at our AGM but having the option of adding online payment methods (Paypal only so far) would be beneficial.

Member Login/Update
Members should be able to log in and update their own contact info at any time and check on the renewal date. Business members should be able to log in and update company content, contact and address, business description, and any offers they want to display for members.

Annual Renewal Date
Our board has an annual renewal date of April 1 every year and they would prefer this date to follow through online. So no matter when you join, April 1 is your renewal date. I do not agree with this so I do not care if it is not possible but I promised I would ask.

Free or Paid
This is a small volunteer-run organization so cost is always on the mind of the board. I’ve informed them that this system is a big change and will likely incur a cost for the ideal system and they accept that. Prefer free or one-time payment but anything is acceptable as long as it works.
