Yesterday my mother and I drove out to Barstow to visit with my aunt and uncle who were passing through on their way back to Northern California. I can’t say I have any love for the Mojave Desert. Last summer my mom and I passed through on the 58 and it was the most bleak, barren stretch of highway I’ve ever seen. I brought my camera along this time, but there just isn’t much of interest to photograph, especially from a car on the highway.

Calico Ghost Town is only 20 minutes away from Barstow, so we took a detour up there before heading back home.

So… yeah. This is it.
I have no idea how people live out here. Sorry, Mojave, we’re just never going to be friends.
