Until he received a very nasty electrical shock on New Year's Day.
I'm returning the bed (after thoroughly washing it) as defective, & am writing this review at the urging of our vet, who's treating my cat for 2 serious contact burns & shock. He's not obese by any stretch, but he is a long boy that weighs in at 15 pounds.
I thoroughly inspected the heating pad, & don't see any noticeable signs of defect, but I'm not taking any chances.
Signs of electrical shock- unexplained urination &/or defecation; two distinctive electrical burns; listlessness; signs of pain or distress; increased drooling; irritation at the site of contact; coughing; breathing difficulties; seizures; collapse or unconsciousness.
If your pet is heavier than 12 pounds, I'd strongly advise against buying a heated bed like this. Better yet? Talk to your vet first, & get suggestions from them on products they'd recommend. I thought I'd done a fine & thorough job of researching for an appropriate bed for our sweet old boy... Apparently not.
Again I'd like to say, that even though I couldn't find any obvious signs of defect in the heating pad, I can't rule it out, either. Please take this review in the spirit it's intended: approach heated pet beds with caution. If you have any concerns, especially if your pet is on the heavy side, talk to your vet first. Please.
The last thing any critter lover wants is a suffering or dead furry friend, along with a steep vet bill like we just had to pay.
Edited To Add on February 7th: There were actually 3 burns on our sweet old boy's belly, & they're still not completely healed. Our vet's very concerned there's been nerve damage as well, as my cat's head & neck have been constantly twitching since a few days after the near-electrocution. He's also been having violent sneezing fits, even though he's never had allergies nor does he have a cold. This bed has cost us hundreds of dollars that are now edging into the thousands. PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS BED.

The bed only draws 4 Watts, so the cost to operate is quite low, even if the cat decides to spend 90% of the day laying in it! My calculations come to a cost of ~$0.50 per month in electricity costs.
I have not figured out how the bed turns on and off, but I have two beds and one of them seems to stay on, or turns on randomly. I took the heating pad out and it stayed off while on the workbench, but it was back on again once it was put back into the bed.
As a side benefit, one of the beds is on my bed where the cat always sleeps, and it keeps a spot on the bed warm so I can warm my feet up after going to bed.
Two cat pictures are attached as further evidence that the beds were well received!
Photo one shows the oldest cat enjoying triple heat from the bed, sunlight, and the nearby wood stove.
Photo two shows a middle aged cat comfortable enough to lay on his back in a 60° degree bedroom.

Like most of the other reviews here, I have a ~25 year old cat living in a often cold house, so I wanted to give this a try. It feels a little warm, definitely warmer than the room, but once kitty is in the bed, it warms up a lot. My cats love it. My little girl is kind of small but she’s really fat, and my boy is quite tall and big. They can both snuggle in there quite nicely. It looks nice and they seem to like the raised edge to rest their chins on. I am very happy with this purchase and I think the price is a very good value. It arrived very quickly also which is a big plus

Ok... I bought this bed on impulse because I'm working from home now and the house is cold during the day. I was so excited for this bed to arrive for my cat babies.Reviewed in Canada on October 27, 2020
It arrived today, I turned it on immediately and let it warm up for 20 minutes.
Honestly, it didnt feel warm at all when I put my hand in.. but I put one of my cat babies into the bed and within seconds she was making puddings and dribbling with joy. She settled into the bed and fell into a deep, warm sleep. She only got up out of it to eat dinner, use the litter box and now she is back in the bed! I put my hand in once she was in there and it did feel toasty warm.
I would call that a success! Now I cant wait for my other cat to figure out what's going on with it!
