Bootstraping circular economy ecosystems
In a circular and collaborative economy ecosystem people and organizations improve and exchange electronic devices to avoid premature recycling. We support local actors to practice and ensure circular consumption of electronic devices: we transfer know-how, we introduce open-source circular economy resources, and we build connections among local actors and eReuse members and partners.
Measure and certify circularity of products, members and platforms
Circular consumption is based on using resources to the maximum extent possible, ensuring that they are ultimately recycled, but never before or prematurely, but only when no one else can be used or reused. The challenge is to provide resources for consumers, members and platforms to self-assess, self-certify and share this data with a data-commons for circularity. We propose a set of measures, metrics and progress indicators to measure and learn how to use electronic devices for longer, either internally or by collaborating with external agents to ensure that these devices are properly reused and recycled. If consumers know metrics such as durability, upgradeability, reuseability or obsolescence, ultimately optimizes our consumption, and selecting the most circular members and platforms.
Coordinate open-source resources roadmap for reusing electronics
Our members and partners develops and share open-source resources such as refurbishment tools, inventory management and traceability systems, self-certification mechanisms for quality and circularity standards, good practices and case studies. The challenge in this activity is to prioritize which resources are key to the community and ensure they are open-source and based on open standards. Ereuse coordinates the development roadmap of this resources.
