Reviews
Write a ReviewWe had our entire front and backyard completely re-landscaped. Madroño did an excellent and precise job. The crew from Madroño were always quality conscious and easy to work with. They make great plant recommendations and provide advice on on care for the yard. We would definitely recommend Madroño for any landscaping project.
The project was a small patio area behind our house, bounded by the house on one side and an 8â high poured concrete retaining wall on the other 3 sides. The job was to install slate pavers on top of the existing concrete floor, cover the retaining wall with stucco, and install a drainage system around the perimeter of the patio. There were multiple problems: the only access to the area was through the interior of the house; a large â hot tubâ spa was already on the patio and had to be moved around as the work progressed; our neighborhood is extremely foggy and the patio is wet more often than not. Time was lost waiting for materials (the stucco, the sealant used on the pavers, etc.) to dry out. Geoffrey handled all the problems efficiently. We are very pleased with the result. Geoffrey and his workers are completely professional in their approach, and very easy to communicate with. We are completely satisfied. Highly recommended!
I would definitely recommend Madroño. My wife and I moved into a house in San Francisco with a backyard that was an overgrown, weedy jungle. Geoff from Madroño came out to meet with me and discuss options and prepared a design plan with recommended plants, and he worked with us through lots of questions and requested changes. His team, led by Daniel the project manager, was great. They finished the job efficiently and were incredibly responsive with questions we had, and even rushed out on short notice one morning after the job was completed to help us fix the mess a local raccoon had made of the sod they had laid. The job was done on budget with no unexpected surprises there the only adjustments to the budget Geoff originally prepared were ones we had specifically requested to accommodate changes we wanted to make. Great experience and great people!
Work is just starting.
Geoff completely revived our backyard that we went from barely using to spending hours out there every week. He is easy to work with, especially around allowing the client to customize and iterate on the design. He always was conscious of our budget and would give us a range of options at different price points. He is professional, responsive over email and text, and very knowledgeable of CA native plants and sustainable methods of landscaping to minimize water usage and use earth-friendly and high-quality materials. The plants he sourced were all high quality and the very small fraction that died or didn't look great he quickly replaced. His designs for our deck and fence looked much better than we had envisioned and we are very pleased with how functional our yard is yet how good it also looks and true it was to our goal of using native plants and natural materials. One area for improvement: sometimes his crew didn't have the attention to detail we would have liked. Whenever we pointed out some detail the crew had missed, however, Geoff was quick to remedy. But we had to be vigilant about checking in on things. Also, it would be great if he could get a certified electrician on his crew to do all electrical work (lighting) rather than having to work with a third party.
