Poetry Showcase, volume 7

The Horror Writers Associations presents their seventh annual Poetry Showcase, featuring the best in never-before-published dark verse.

Edited by Stephanie M. Wytovich, this year’s featured poets are K. P. Kulski, Sarah Read, and Sara Tantlinger, plus dozens of poems from the talented members of the Horror Writers Association.

HWA Presents: Don’t Turn Out the Lights

The HWA is pleased to announce the release of its newest publication, Don’t Turn Out the Lights, a middle-grade anthology edited by Jonathan Maberry and published by Harper Collins. The book debuted 9/1 in hardcover, eBook, and audio.

Don’t Turn Out the Lights is a tribute to Alvin Schwartz’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and features 35 stories from such talents as R.L. Stine, Madeleine Roux, and many members of the Horror Writers Association. Illustrations by Iris Compiet.

HWA Announces Academic Essay Collection

The Horror Writers Association (HWA), the premier organization of writers and publishers of horror and dark fantasy, announces a new release in the Fall 2019 from McFarland Books.

Horror Literature from Gothic to Post-Modernism: Critical Essays.

These essays were initially presented at Ann Radcliffe Academic Conferences during StokerCon® events. All scholars and academics were invited to submit presentation abstracts related to Horror Studies for consideration.

The book is edited by Michele Brittany and Nicholas Diak, with a Foreword by Lisa Morton, six-time Bram Stoker award-winning author and former President of HWA, and an Afterword by Becky Spratford.

HWA Members Enjoy a Second Dose of ‘Blood Lite’

HWA President Deborah LeBlanc unveiled the table of contents for the next official HWA anthology, Blood Lite 2. The sequel to 2008’s bestselling collection of humorous horror is again being edited by New York Times-bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson and promises double the horror — and double the laughs!

HWA Books

SINCE 1990, HWA HAS PRODUCED A SERIES OF “HWA PRESENTS” ANTHOLOGIES edited by a few of our more prestigious members and published in hardcover, mass-market or trade paperback by various publishers. Most have also had signed, limited hardcover editions.

These anthologies present new stories by the members of the Horror Writers Association — only members may submit stories. However, our newest, rawest, and youngest members compete for space on an equal basis with our established stars — and sometimes win, as we’ve had first sales in most of the volumes so far.
