Five Star Painting of MadisonWe've used 5-Star Painting twice now, and been happy both times. When we moved into our house 3 years ago, we had 3 bedrooms and the hallways repainted, top to bottom (floors, trim, walls). The crew were capable, professional and respectful. We were so happy we hired 5-Star again when it was time to repaint our bathroom this year, as part of a bathroom reno. They repainted the ceiling and walls, and did minor drywall repair. They matched the sand texture for the repairs, and did a great job. At the same time, we hired them to paint a bedroom ceiling. Some of the paint looked like it had bubbled. When the painter started to scrape off the bubbling, he found black mold and let me know immediately. We called ServiceMaster, who came quickly, and determined that the ceiling was not wet, there was no leaking from the roof (replaced 3 years ago), and said the mold was likely from the previous old roof. ServiceMaster said it could be scraped off, sealed and repainted, which 5-Star Painting did. Throughout the process they were calm, professional and displayed their expertise. The painting crew foreman had told me what he thought was the issue- and ServiceMaster confirmed it with their specialty instruments and inspection an hour later! We were very pleased.- Angela B.

Mick was in and out of our house for almost a year between all of the various projects he completed, I can't think of a thing to complain about. He's focused, detailed, flexible, reasonably priced and a genuinely good person. On top of that, his work is beautiful. If he patches a wall (even a large patch), you'd never guess that there was a hole in the first place. When we decided on handmade tile for our shower, he laid the tile methodically so that the natural variations in height flowed seamlessly. Our bathroom cabinets had to fit in a tight space, and his measurements were spot on. I didn't take us long to realize that we could trust him with any project in his wheelhouse, which took a big weight off of us as homeowners. Finally, when the inevitable hiccups did occur (just a regular part of remodeling), he was happy to sit down with us and find the right solution. He was also unerringly patient and friendly when I asked him to explain a piece of the project to me in further detail. He will guide you through a project, but still leave you feeling like a partner. Truly, I can't say enough good things. We recommend him with no reservations. Tom and his crew did a stunning job transforming our great room. Ceilings and walls – in places in and around cabinets, wood stove, decorative cabinet insets and shelves – are all now neat, crisp, and bright. They were able to correct a myriad of dings and pops (some pretty nasty!) to the point that I really cannot see any of those flaws anymore, far exceeding my expectations. Plus, Tom’s expertise really helped me to sort out exactly the color and finish I was shooting for. The work was all done in professional manner, very considerate of our home and our time; and all at a great price! Highly recommended.

We paid $5,000+ plus for MD Painters to paint the walls and ceilings on the first floor of our house. In preparation for this paint job, we had our old baseboards removed. We were purchasing new baseboards in its place. David, owner, decided that his painters would only paint down as far as the imprint of our old baseboards. He assumed that our new baseboards would be the same height as our old ones. WRONG. Our new baseboards were shorter in height than our old ones. Now, we have unpainted, unpatched gaps between our new and where our old baseboards use to be. Also, since he did not paint the entire wall, the nails from our old baseboards were in the wall. When I explained this situation to him, he felt that he should not had to remove the nails. He said that the carpenter should have removed the nails. It would have been extra for him to take out the nails. I asked him if he would have painted the entire wall, would he left the nails in the wall? I do not remember his answer. To his credit, he did come back and repainted and patched the walls by the baseboards which involved the entire first floor. While he was re-patching and re-painting, I pointed out areas that I felt should be done over. He was very condescending to me when I pointed out those areas. He said that I was "seeing things" and "hallucinating" After paying $5,000+, I expect the entire wall to be painted. I do not expect to be talked down by someone who is suppose to be a professional painter. A professional painter that does not know to paint the entire wall but expect to be paid $5,000+.
