Can sunlight and bleach cure the coronavirus? The short answer is: No. Health experts are warning against Donald Trump's suggestion that zapping patients with UV light or injecting disinfectant into lungs could help treat Covid-19, writes @elizamackintosh https://cnn.it/2VQe566
A reminder to all Americans- PLEASE always talk to your health provider first before administering any treatment/ medication to yourself or a loved one. Your safety is paramount, and doctors and nurses are have years of training to recommend what’s safe and effective.
Lysol just issued a warning not to digest or inject disenfectant to kill Covid-19 after the President's bizarre comment. He was right that injecting bleach would kill the virus but not before killing the patient. The WH should issue a corrective statement. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/lysol-manufacturer-warns-against-internal-use-after-trump-comments-n1191586 …
The Lysol warning is interesting legally. Companies are liable under product liability for "foreseeable misuse" of their products. Until yesterday, the foreseeability of such misuse was highly dubious, though there were such pre-pandemic cases of ingestion...
...the plain fact is that even a suggestion by a president that such products could be used to "clean" the blood is dangerous. Similar home remedies have led to poisonings around the world. This still does not make this legally foreseeable misuse but a warning was warranted.
"Disinfection is not a treatment for people with the coronavirus." Dr. Mark McClellan of Duke University responds to the President's suggestion that injecting disinfectants may be a Covid-19 remedy. Experts and officials countered Trump’s suggestion that heat, light and disinfectants could be potential treatments for COVID-19. The comments came after a White House briefing on the effects of sunlight and common cleaning supplies on the virus.https://twitter.com/i/events/1253463352182886401 …
