This. Like indie is thriving, but the things that work in indie are things trad refused to adjust to. They'd rather let the trad side of the genre die than adapt. Or at least that's what it feels like as a general whole.

I have this really deep sinking feeling in my stomach that the whole publishing industry is trying to get rid of romance. This is the second huge list we’ve lost, mmpb are being edged out, and the current reigning person in romance writes womens fiction and domestic thrillers.

so this place hasn't died yet, but interestingly, I took it out of a priority place in my brain, and I think it's better for me. I'm writing and reading more than ever.
