  • Please continue collaborating on this document, it’s not closed yet! You can make suggestions on the document until Friday, 26 February 14h00 UTC.

4. Collaborations and Planning
Full Site Editing (FSE) Collaboration

Task:  We will be working on raising awareness and understanding of Full Site Editing (FSE) within the Marketing Team and continuing some of our research.

Just a reminder of the suggested preparatory reading for this session, can be found on item 6 on the agenda

Collaboration document in this link.

We went over questions for an audience of non tech users, people with limited CMS experience and relatively new to WordPress

  1. What would they need to understand about FSE as a first step?
  2. What are likely to be the most important benefits for this audience?
  3. Are there any key words we would think would benefit this audience in their initial introduction/ induction to FSE?

There were some great ideas and discussions, and an informal poll to measure awareness of FSE. The questions asked were:

A) Are you familiar with what full site editing is and that there is work going on developing this area in the Project at the moment?

B) Have you heard the term full side editing or FSE?

C) Do you think that this will affect the work that you do in marketing, communications or other areas? If so, it will be useful to understand how you think it will affect and any steps you are taking to understand it more or preparing for it.

These questions are part of our background preparation for helping team members understand, have a great awareness of FSE, and the different kind of information needs that there may be.

In the review for awareness we are doing, it would also help to know whether there are there any areas of the FSE reading material highlighted on the agenda [item 6] that you feel you don’t understand enough for your environment?  All this helps as in thinking about what might be needed in the future to communicate about the benefits of FSE.

Further reading in Slack thread

Actions:

  • We will continue to add to the shared document asynchronously.
  • Please answer the questions in the straw poll detailed above.
  • If you were not able to participate in the session, please add your name to the document and start contributing!

WordPress campaign to encourage those who have pledged to support the marketing team

Task:  We have more than 700 pledges to the Marketing team, but have a much lower number of active contributors. We want to reach pledgers and encourage them to become more involved.

Collaboration document in this link.

We explored  answers to the questions:

  • If you were searching for opportunities to collaborate/contribute to the WordPress Marketing Team, what keywords would you search for on the Make WordPress blog and on search engines?
  • How can we encourage pledgers and new contributors, in general, to think towards medium and long term collaboration?
  • What do we understand as pledging to give time to Marketing? This will help us explain this more to those who have pledged or are considering doing so?

We had some great ideas and discussions.

Actions:

  • We have added some additional questions so please do continue to collaborate in the document.
  • Task meeting will take place on Tuesday 9 February 2021, 15:00 to 16:00 UTC. All those who have volunteered and any additional contributors are welcome. Please let us know if you will be coming in the Marketing Slack. We will be using Zoom or Google Hangouts and Google Doc.
