AAmalfi Glass & Window Repair
Amalfi repaired one of my broken window panes. I have double paned windows, which means there are two facing glass panels set in a frame, separated by a small space of air (I believe). One of glass panels was broken. Amalfi came out one Saturday (January 16th) morning and took measurements and came back the next Saturday (January 23) and repaired the broken glass. He also took my two storm windows with him on the 16th and repaired the glass in the frame and re-installed the storm windows on the 23rd. I'm not sure what to say about the storm windows. They are very (very) old and I actually thought I would need to replace the whole system. Overall I am very pleased with the service. I really appreciated being able to get the work done on Saturday and I would definitely use this company again.

Mr. Pearce was responsive to my telephone call for service. Came to my home to look at the windows and promised to get back to me the next week or so. He NEVER followed up. After two weeks I contacted VA Window Repair who responded the same day and returned the next week with the needed parts to fix both the window sash and the fogged glass. VA Window Repair was prompt, responsive and professional. Dave Pearce was not.

I called the office number and left a message (after hours) and the owner called me back that evening. He came out the next day and gave me an estimate of the work. I had an excellent experience with Najim, who replaced the broken outer pane of a double paned window to our attic on the front of our rowhouse (an approx. 12" x 24" window). Najim was able to come out the same day I called and surveyed the window and gave me an estimate for the repair. There were a couple things that made it a tricky repair, in that the attic space is inaccessible from the inside of the house so the window had to be replaced from the outside, requiring the work to be done fairly high up on a ladder on a cold day (it sounded like it may have been a less expensive repair had it been easier to access). We scheduled the repair itself for the following day (I believe he would have been able to do the repair the same day, but the weather that day made it not very safe to work outside on a ladder). The next morning he arrived on time and was able to complete the repair within about an hour. The quality of the work appeared solid, and he explained how he was able to make a small improvement to how the window frame was mounted. He was clean with his work and careful not to track snow into the house. The final cost was the same as his original estimate. It has been a couple weeks of wind and rain since, and the repair seems to be holding nicely.

Originally it was a bit challenging to find a time for the estimate (they were targeting 9-3 - not ideal unless there is someone home all day) They did accommodate our time request. The estimate was done quickly and the work scheduled shortly after. Alex was prompt, thorough - completed all the repairs mentioned above and touched up the paint where needed. The glazing (this is the outside putty that holds in the individual panes of glass) on my windows was crumbling so bad that my painter couldn't paint them. It's hard to find someone to do this since modern windows are no longer made like this. Most window places just want to sell you new windows. Circle Glass was responsive and punctual in scheduling the estimate. Their communication is very good about when they are coming and I was pleased with how the windows turned out. There was some quality issues with three of the windows as they let a less experienced worker do them. I sent pictures to Circle Glass and they totally agreed and sent out another person to fix the reglazing. These things happen sometimes and a good company takes steps to insure quality work and that is exactly what Circle Glass did. They came out a second time to improve the work. I appreciated that they wanted the work to be done right. Overall, I found them and their work professional. I would definitely hire them again.

Super Service Award Recent Review: The work went very well. Leo came by at an earlier date to review the scope of the job. He then set up an appointment to come back and do the work. Recent Review: Called the company and scheduled an appointment for the garage door repair. The technicians showed up on time and expertly fixed the garage door spring and wire. They also adjusted the garage door opener so that the door itself was raised as high as possible. Nice and professional. I used this same company later to purchase and install replacement windows in my house. They are very reliable and I will continue to use them for other home projects as needed.

Super Service Award Recent Review: The crew arrived on time and were excellent. They listened to our concerns, worked quickly and safely, and took care of few extra issues that we pointed out without any fuss. Great work. They could have been a bit better about cleaning up aluminum cuttings afterward, though this was made more difficult by the leaves down in the yard at the time. The B on responsiveness is solely for the main office re: the silent period between the time we put in a down payment and the time we were contacted about when a work date might be set - one call or text would have helped us plan and know what to expect. Again, the crew was great and quite responsive to our requests.

Banning did a great job estimating the materials and time required and Steve Ford, the estimator, took the time to make sure that we had the correct siding and that the steps required would get the job done correctly. Despite a mistake on our part, the company made corrections and got the roof on relatively quickly. The siding took a little longer to complete, but made a big difference. They also did the painting of the gable trim and the gutters. When some paint dripped onto the siding, they fixed the problem without a discussion. I have used them on and off for 10 years. HIgh quality work and personal service. I would highly recommend them.

Installers were professional. The only snag we had came during installation of the sofit(sp?) vents. I noticed that they hadn't cut vent holes into the attic - defeating the purpose of the vent. I pointed it out to the manager and the next day they tore out the siding they had installed and reinstalled it properly. The owner claimed it was a communication error, which is entirely possible. There is always a snag in a job and this is one of those times where they may have been trying to cut corners, or the installer misunderstood. Given the quality of my overall experience and I believe it is the latter. It is an example, though, of why it's important to make sure that as the homeowner you are involved in the process. Finally, I'm not originally from Virginia, having moved here from the Midwest. As a whole I have found the contractors in the area to be overpriced and poorly trained. Not so with Pond. They knew the product and knew how to install it. Would highly recommend them to anyone.
