The RetiCAM MT-01 Table Top Tripod is a durable, full-featured tripod designed for a table or bench setup of cameras, smartphones, spotting scopes and many other devices.

It's light-weight and portable, but unlike most mini tripods, it can be extended to 19" tall and comes with a three-way pan head. Smooth pan and tilt motion allows easy positioning of your camera for the optimum shooting angle.

A quick release plate is also included to allow instant mounting and removal of your equipment. Sturdy 3-section legs are made of aluminum and come with quick snap flip locks. 20mm-diameter geared center post allows rapid height adjustment on the fly. A built-in bubble level helps with quick setup. A convenient carrying bag is included. Additional QR plates are also available (ASIN: B012ZHJNV2).

Very compact, yet strong enough for a DSLR

The most important the feature of any tripod is that it keeps your camera steady. This not only gives you a better shot, but it insures your expensive camera doesn't tip over. This tripod manages to do this even though it's small enough to fit on your desktop.

This desktop tripod is the perfect size for most desktops and it has all the traditional features you would expect from a full sized tripod, such as extendable locking legs, a smooth pan and tilt head, a quick release, and a telescoping head. It also has a bubble lens to make it easier to insure it's level.

As I mentioned, the legs are extendable, but as a desktop tripod, I rarely need to extend the legs because most desks are already at least 30 inches from the ground. For me this is perfect for shooting desktop Selfies or for hands free FaceTime videos.

I was sent a sample for review and I was very impressed by the quality of this tripod. It's compact, sturdy, and easy to use. It comes with a handy carry case, which is a big plus for me because I travel quite a bit.

RetiCAM vs. Tairoad mini tripod

I first got the RetiCAM table tripod due to its popularity but quickly realized it was missing some key features and wasn't as rock solid as I wanted and then proceeded to look further on Amazon.

My biggest issues with the RetiCAM:
-The top panhead is only solid on one side with the other side "floating". This could cause some flex/give under heavy loads.
-There is no center column lock to keep the legs better in place when making height adjustments. Additionally the leg brackets/arms are too loose. This combined with how easily the legs center shaft connector slides up and down makes the overall design too wobbly.
-There is no hook to further weigh the tripod down for maximum stability.

Tairoad mini tripod:
-Solves all the major Reticam issues with a more refined and stable design and includes the additional features.
-Has a much better primary handle that is thicker and more solid which feels better in your hand while also being shorter as the Reticam's is overlong.
-Legs improvements which include thicker/more robust leg sections, larger rubber feet and improved leg clasps/locks
-Includes a quick release plate that is larger with more surface area
-Slightly greater height around 1.5 inches taller

The Reticam has a few positives:
-The handle for the top extender section feels better when folding it over and has a better arm shape.
-The legs can be easily detached with two phillips screwdrivers for potential adjustment. I haven't tried to detach the Tairoads but it looks more difficult...
-The head can be removed completely but not sure if any other heads would be compatible as they may be too big to fit.

Update: Happy to report that the company worked with me VERY quickly to resolve the issue! Of all these model tripods they've sold in the past 3 years, I received the only one ever with a defective QR plate. They sent me a replacement, free of charge, very quickly! Their customer service was so polite, professional, and understanding. They turned a crummy situation into a good one! I've updated my review based on the experience. I give the tripod 4.5 stars! I love it, but I did notice once I finally got my camera on it that it does tip if I tilt the camera to a vertical position. I'll weigh it down when in use and it won't be an issue!

So far, really disappointed. I've reached out to the seller for a resolution, so hopefully they help me. I was so excited to get this tripod because it's exactly what I was looking for for my macro photography. However, when I went to screw the QR plate to my camera, the "screw" is more like a smooth pin. Totally useless to me. When I went back to the listing, and went through the photos...I realize I have a defective QR plate. All the photos show a screw and the listing even mentions a standard 1/4 inch tripod screw...totally not what I got. Hopeful for a quick resolution because I need this tripod for an end of the week project.

I bought the RetiCAM tabletop tripod along with the XL tripod mount for my Nexus 6. I love them both. The tripod seems very solid, I've tried it already with both my phone and my DSLR. Tilt and pan is awesome. The weight is nice - light enough to carry around on my travels, but weighty enough to feel confident about putting my camera on it. I plan on using both the tripod and the phone mount on an upcoming trip and I'm super happy with this purchase. The reviews on Amazon were a big help.

Great little tripod, and the price is beyond reasonable.

I wanted a tabletop tripod for use on the patio table to photograph our bird feeders. I've owned several Slik tripods and first looked at Slik tabletops. On Amazon I couldn't find one with 3 way pan and tilt so I decided to try the RetiCAM as it was in the same general price range as the Sliks available. In the photo the RetiCAM is holding a heavy old Konica/Minolta MAXXUM 7D with Minolta 70-210 heavy metal & glass lens. I find that the RetiCAM tripod holds very well. Like my Sliks it has a little lash that you need to compensate for when "aiming". With the legs at their shortest position their was no danger of this combo falling over. I really can't think of anything negative to say.

I recommend it and would buy it again.

When I replaced my old camera with a Nikon D7500 and added an 18 - 400 zoom lens, my old Gorilla tripod gave up the ghost. It could not handle the combined weight of the camera and zoom lens. Researching many camera buff sites, the Retican tabletop tripod was always highly rated in the reviews. I received mine for Christmas and gave it a quick test drive today. Obviously, it will not replace my usual Manfrotto tripod, but its portability and small size is exactly what I wanted. It will be easy to tote when hiking and the 3-way, pan-tilt head provides a lot of flexibility to frame a subject. First impressions are excellent. My only concern, and only time will tell, is that many of the parts are made of plastic. Will this be an issue over the long haul? I will just have to wait and see, but in the interim, I am quite happy with it.
