    As an aside, I remember sitting at my desk in London, back in August 2016, watching in disbelief and shock as Twitter *reinstated* a known intelligence front that was spreading harmful PII.

    Better translation

    Re: malware name “Drovorub”, which as points out translates directly as “woodcutter” However, more importantly, “Drova” is slang in Russian for “drivers”, as in kernel drivers. So the name likely was chosen to mean “(security) driver slayer"

    The level of detail in today's NSA/FBI advisory is truly stunning—my favorite thing so far: NSA casually reveals that Drovorub is the codename used by GRU itself (!), and even offers a step-by-step translation

    Probably the best writing yet on Russian election interference efforts. There is no grand strategy or intent to destroy democracy. It’s mostly just trolling and hitting back for perceived grievances from the West

    My latest in on the drivers of Russian interference. The Kremlin doesn't care about democracy. It thinks it's just aping America.
