The Television Academy, based in the NoHo Arts District in North Hollywood, California, is a nonprofit organization devoted to celebrating and empowering storytellers to push the boundaries of what Television can be. The only major organization fully representing the television and broadband screen entertainment industry, it is made up of over 24,000 members, representing 30 professional peer groups, including performers, directors, producers, art directors and various other artisans, technicians and executives.

The Television Academy recognizes excellence among its peers with the Emmy award, culminating in the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast each fall. The Television Academy also produces several other awards shows and a variety of activities and events for its members throughout the year. These events are featured across the Academy's digital platforms and in its award-winning emmy magazine.

Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships

The Television Academy is looking for a Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships.

The position is full time and exempt.

The Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships role is a full-time position with a focus on generating revenue, envisioning and selling comprehensive and innovative sponsorships, partnerships and promotions using various Television Academy and Television Academy Foundation assets.

Additionally, the Senior Manager will take ownership for successfully managing the day-to-day execution of all contractually obligated deliverables for our corporate partners while upholding the integrity, values and reputation of the Television Academy.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships, the Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships will take ownership for successfully managing the day-to-day execution of all contractually obligated deliverables for our corporate partners while upholding the integrity, values and reputation of the Television Academy. This position will be expected to interact and collaborate with other Academy departments including media and brand management, marketing, talent relations, corporate partnerships, the Television Academy Foundation as well as the entire event production team. This role will also manage other tasks as requested or assigned.

Essential Functions

Sponsorship Growth: Build tailored, dynamic proposals and presentations to cultivate a selection of bespoke partners for the Television Academy brands. Primary duties include but are not limited to prospecting, networking, presenting, inventory management, hospitality and promotional activities. Develop and nurture relationships with senior level executives at brands as well as promotional and event marketing agencies. Sponsored events include Emmy Awards, Red Carpet Arrivals, Green Room, Backstage Live, Bleacher Seats, Media Center, Governors Ball and Hall of Fame Induction; as well as Television Academy Foundation events, among others.

Management of Existing Commitments: Provide best-in-class account management to retain ongoing partnership commitments. Responsible for hands-on delivery of partner initiatives through completion/activation of events. Ensure deliverables for all partner and prospect accounts are up to date.

Internal Communication: Liaise with internal departments including marketing, PR, design services, social/digital, events and Foundation, to communicate partner deliverables and ensure on-time fulfillment. Maintain and update concise weekly sales activity report.

Knowledge Management: Continuously explore brand and agency priorities and product launches. Stay current on trends in brand marketing, partnerships, sponsorships and promotions across multiple industries ranging from automotive, financial services, technology and fashion.

Special Projects: Play an active role in the development of new asset ideation and experiences aligned with the Television Academy's strategic plans.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • A minimum of five or more years of partnership/sponsorship sales experience with business development and account management proficiency.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and strong attention to detail.
  • Dynamic PowerPoint/Keynote/Excel skills.
  • Exceptional sense of white-glove customer service, discretion and poise with clients.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Onsite activation of key sponsorships will require working evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested.

Development Manager

The Television Academy Foundation is looking for a Development Manager.

The position is full time and exempt.

The Development Manager is responsible for (1) the cultivation and solicitation of event-driven annual sponsorships and in-kind support from corporate and industry partners, (2) the planning and execution of a year-round auction program, and (3) support for community and industry-based initiatives.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Manager works closely with all development staff to contribute strategies, leadership, and fundraising skills to advance the philanthropic Investments of corporate prospects In Foundation programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute year-round strategies to solicit corporate contributions and sponsorships for the Foundation, including but not limited to educational and archival programs, professional conferences and seminars, and annual events including the Golf Tournament and College Television Awards.
  • Manage all aspects of a year-round auction program, online and/or at events, which generates revenue, creates public excitement for the Foundation, and advances relationships with key partners.
  • Act as fulfillment liaison with sponsors for all events as assigned by supervisor; support relationships by managing regular communications throughout the year; ensure fulfillment, reporting, and gift tracking for all sponsors.
  • Use Raiser's Next database to manage full gift and/or sales cycle for all assigned prospects.
  • Manage prospect identification and research for corporate and industry partners and prepare briefing materials for staff and volunteers.
  • Develop and steward corporate sponsors through multiple gift vehicles, including event based sponsorships, restricted giving, and endowment/capital funds.
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Chief Development Officer, including scheduling meetings, preparing sponsorship decks and assets, producing reports, conducting research and more.
  • Manage assigned fundraising initiatives to ensure community engagement and revenue development through both sales and sponsorships, and support production as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Event Production, Marketing, Design, and Finance on sponsor and event needs.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

    • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive fundraising, business development, and/or corporate relationship management
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to track detail from multiple sources over long term projects and priorities.
    • Ability to establish relationships and follow through on commitments and decisions
    • Ability to think strategically, conceptually and creatively
    • Computer proficient, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
    • Ability to multitask in a fast paced and frequently changing environment
    • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field desired
