No. CARES was NOT bigger than the New Deal. CARES was about 10% of 2019 GDP. New Deal fiscal outlays were about 37% of 1929 GDP. Just doing inflation adjusted dollars doesn’t capture scale in meaningful way. And key parts of CARES are about to run out.

“oh you should never have a beam that runs from inside of the house to the outside,” i said to myself. “everybody knows that!”

anyone else ever watch a lot of Holmes on Homes and Grand Design and find one of the big no-no’s in your own virtually new, 10yo house ARCHITECTS!!!

sunset with a huge wood beam sticking out of the side of a modern house. left of the beam is fine. right is rotted.
closer photo of rotted beam that clearly extends from inside the house

Right now Ilhan Omar is being smeared, shamed and threatened for talking about dismantling inequality. Paging some of the Harpers gang, she could use some free speech support and maybe even a donation for protection, Congress doesn't always cover it

Gotten some messages today from troubled "gender critical" feminists that I'm not receptive to their hateful ideology, & there's this funny thing when you're a public figure, however minor, that people just kind of assume you agree with them on all topics unless stated otherwise.

“Sweden’s grim result — more death, and nearly equal economic damage — suggests that the supposed choice between lives and paychecks is a false one: A failure to impose social distancing can cost lives and jobs at the same time”

Let this sink in. ⁦’s⁩ Greg Millet found that in Black counties, UNEMPLOYMENT was associated with FEWER cases b/c when Black people are employed we are more likely to work in jobs that increase our exposure. Virtual

The books Trump pretends to fight always cover up crime with scandal (Wolff, Woodward, Bolton, etc). He would much rather his personality be analyzed than his prosecutable offenses. Does it touch on the family's mafia ties and financial crimes? If it doesn't, it's not a real bio.

*This* is what we should be talking about. The people at risk are the "essential workers" who can't work via zoom/slack, people in nursing homes and prisons, and people who attend crowded indoor places (restaurants/bars). We need to address the real risk.

A difference of more than 45,000 lives: New model predicts more than 208,000 will die in the US from Covid-19 by November, according to the University of Washington. But if 95% of the population wears a mask in public, that number would drop to 162,808.
