Checking in with international liaisons
We have a lot of fantastic members spread all over the world (courtesy pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). If you’re not named, don’t worry, it just means we’ve not been formally introduced, so please let us know where you’re from and how things are going if you’d like to!

Let’s have a nice spot of friendly appreciation that our colleagues over in Drupal land launched Drupal 9 recently :slightly_smiling_face:

Is it like Facebook around here, where nothing is deleted? The database just grows and grows?

Yes and no, we delete spam, we archive posts which violate the forum guidelines in a manner in which we can’t edit out a minor part for the good of all.

Feel free to drop by anytime to chat and ask for support. You can also follow this conversation on slack

If there is still time left after this, then meeting attendees may step forward with questions, comments, remarks, anything relating to the support team that they’d like to handle.

It is also important to note that not everyone is comfortable posting things publicly, there is complete understanding of this, and users are welcome to contact the team representative (@clorith) via direct messages on Slack with whatever they wish the team to look at together.

To help facilitate those wanting to join us for this day of fun, we’ll be holding some office-hours ahead of the event to allow anyone to ask questions or get help setting up anything they may need.

The support team has little in terms of requirements, but we have some useful tools and pre-defined replies that come in handy from time to time, and we recommend their use.

First, start by familiarizing your self with the support guidelines, these are used on all the platforms where the team provides support.

Then, have a look at our Getting Started at a Contributor Day handbook page.

Office hours will be at these times:

The office hours will be held in the #forums channel on SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. (a Slack account is required)

The team is also generally available outside of these hours, and may be available to help. Please do join and ask if anyone is available to help out.

General announcements

Summary posts after meetings will moving forward be posted if there are updates that need sharing or decisions that need discussing.

For general checking in during weekly meetings, we’ll still have agendas, so we’re not going full-on office hours only (as it’s nice with an excuse to bring everyone together once a week 😀 ), but we will limit the summary posts to information that needs to be shared, for example following major releases of WordPress.

Checking in with international liaisons

Members of our community from Russia, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Bangladesh and India were available for this weeks chat, even while WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress.
