To raise an ICO for the Smart Trip Platform, we needed a powerful dedicated server in a data center infrastructure. Selectel provided the equipment and installed a Bitrix virtual machine, Etherium node, Geth client, and Node.js. Everything was done very professionally, and in only six months, our ICO amounted to 2.78 mln dollars.

Another interesting project that Selectel hosts is the blog advertising platform GetBlogger. An interesting new project recently migrated to our data centers: the freelance designer marketplace GoDesigner. The founder, Maksim Fedchenko, told us about the most expensive and unusual projects to appear on the marketplace, how they safeguard themselves from plagiarism, and how much designers earn at GoDesigner.

PromKod.ru

Today we’ll be talking about another interesting project hosted on Selectel servers: PromKod.ru, which publishes promo codes and sales for online shops. The project is the brainchild of Andrei Priobrazhenskiy (CEO) and Sergei Butsenko (CTO). Andrei talked to us about where they get their discounts, how Russian customers differ from customers abroad, and how Russian online shops are ruining Black Friday.

Evgeniy Gabar, the company’s CTO, shared the company’s success story and explained how capital and regional customers differ, when the cloud is more convenient than dedicated servers, how the number of DDoS attacks have grown over the past few years.

3DreamTeam

We look at the interactive virtual museum Weapons of Heroes (weaponsofheroes.com), which was developed by our client 3DreamTeam (Vizerra). This is an application dedicated to iconic Soviet and Russian weaponry. Users learn the history of each exhibit, how to assemble and disassemble different firearms, and even how to fire them.

Uchi.ru

Uchi.ru is an educational platform that lets students from all over Russia learn in an interactive environment. As they explain it, this method offers an individualized approach to education; every child studies at their own pace and without any knowledge gaps. To use it, all you need is a laptop or tablet and an Internet connection.

RAEC

We started working with Selectel in 2011 based on our partners’ recommendations. I remember they said that this is a company with a powerful infrastructure; a company that brings together the industry’s brightest minds that the country has to offer.

AGIMA

We built over 50% of our infrastructure on one provider. If necessary, we launch platforms for developers in the cloud, load backups to storage, and use dedicated servers for hosting “explosive” environments.

According to Assist, the move not only raised fault-tolerance, but allowed them to save; hosting and maintaining equipment on their own was no longer sound and it would be better to let a professional company handle it.

But when you really get to it, if you have a complex setup with additional services and non-standard equipment, their competitors are more expensive, not to mention unclear with their timelines. DonorSearch

DonorSearch is the first Russian project that applies modern IT approaches to issues pertaining to the donor movement. A site, mobile apps, and databases — the load on our platform grows every day. And the nature of our work requires us to be online at all times. Selectel gives us a reliable infrastructure, and with it confidence that we can bring our ideas to life.

We entered a bigger market and immediately learned that when you’re working with major companies and government organizations, you cannot talk about IT systems unless the cloud is Russian. The biggest issue is data hygiene. This isn’t only about personal data; nobody’s willing to store simple notes abroad. Managers don’t want to take any risks, and they have to know where their data is physically located.

We needed a cloud that we could manage ourselves. With most clouds, you order a server and wait for it to be made, meaning you can never make the infrastructure you need without first contacting tech support: change the number of cores, memory, etc. The VPC was the only solution on the market that let us do everything ourselves, and we really liked that.

Mastercity

It lets us work on only what we’re supposed to: developing and maintaining our resources. I think we have to follow the universal practice and outsource all of our non-core functions.
