My Irish Heritage is super far back (I'm American) but if I recall correctly, they fled to American BECAUSE of the famine. I know quite a chunk of Americans where it's the same situation. I feel it fitting, that we (Americans) also help.

We of any Irish relations (no matter how far back) owe a huge debt to our Native siblings. And it's so endearing to see Ireland and the Irish people show solidarity and return the kindness. You're all an inspiration. <3 <3
