My brother and I lost our dad this week. He was killed in a horrible, senseless car accident, hit by a suspected drunk driver while just trying to do his job, delivering the mail in Enfield, Connecticut. He was 59, far too young.

Teleconference logistics are the worst. I’m pretty sure when I enter Hell, the devil will say, “Hi, who just joined?”

In “Contagion,” a blogger pumped forsythia as a fake cure for the disease as a way to profit from the crisis. In 2020 it’s the President of the United States doing the pumping.

Intelligence officials reported that China appeared to be minimizing the outbreak and said swift action could be needed to contain the virus. Despite the warnings, Trump continued to play down the threat the virus posed to Americans.

In global disaster movies, there’s always a scientist who’s like, WE HAVE TO ACT NOW OR PEOPLE WILL DIE and some government guy who’s like, YOU’RE BLOWING THIS OUT OF PROPORTION and I’m like, NO ONE WOULD REACT TO INFO LIKE THAT IN REAL LIFE. My apologies to those movies.

The facts stated in this article could be said about the security of pretty much any piece of software. And yes, that’s also a problem, but it’s important to put it in context.

Lots of “cybersecurity experts” being quoted everywhere, but just ask any software engineer, product manager, or designer who has tried in vain to work with the DNC or any state Democratic Party and you’ll learn real quickly why this is a clusterfuck.

This is one of the best essays on Silicon Valley and its soulless pursuit of $$$ that I have read in a long time. "Too much American ingenuity is chasing problems that simply don’t matter."

I had the honor & privilege of writing about what excites me the most in tech these days on ✨💙 Unsurprisingly, I wrote about political stuff 😅

Last night a man who specifically works in WP asked me if I had been “dragged here” by the man I was standing next to. 🙃 He might see this and feel embarrassed, idk, but y’all should know this is what we deal with, even in a position like mine.

I was at the Nationals’ epic Game 5 NLDS collapse in 2012 where it all began. I watched history repeat itself in 2016 & 2017. And every time, and I would feel sad, and then we’d have to laugh, as they never should have let Teddy win. The baseball gods never forget.

Part of me wishes the Nationals could have continued to be held to account for the Curse of Teddy. If it’s any consolation, they are 0-3 in World Series games where they let Teddy win. 🙃

Watching the Nationals lose three games at home was not the most fun, but my goodness, they won the World Series anyway. What a series. – at Nationals Park

Thanks for so many well-wishes over the last month. Bittersweet birthday today. My dad would have sent me a funny greeting card. Instead, my friends stepped in and sent me a bunch. ✉️❤️
