The rate of confirmed cases [on the x-axis] against the rate of testing [on the y-axis]. • A country that gets the pandemic under control stops moving to the right. • If it tests widely it moves up. The US stayed on very low testing and moved far to the right.

"History teaches us that depressions do not result from government inaction but from economic policy mistakes and uncertainty with regard to future public policy." FDR abandoned long-held policy dogmas, including balanced budgets, to great effect.

It's surprising how little commentary this is getting in Australia. UK's power grid hasn't used for over 62 days now

This is the “Slave Map of Modern Australia”. In 1891, it was printed in the British Anti-Slavery Reporter, a journal that documented slavery around the world. So was there slavery in Australia? Yes. It shouldn’t even be up for debate:

The Prime Minister says there was no slavery in Australia as he ratchets up his criticism of protests. Is it a step too far?

Mackay was named after John Mackay, a noted blackbirder. As was Robert Towns, after whom Townsville is named. Australian slavery is on our maps.

conscripted and indentured to life-long service. This was slavery. South Pacific islands were raided to provide labour for sugar plantations in Queensland. This was slavery. These are the facts, not wishful whitewashing

Many of Australia's own slave traders are honoured today. For example, both Townsville and Mackay are named after 'blackbirders' - Robert Towns and John Mackay Just some more history we don't learn at school...

The (Conservative) UK Government recognised 5 years ago that free care for 3 & 4 year olds was an important investment in the future. It’s early learning. It’s not considered to be critical brain development in Australia & it should be

I live close to a statue of Towns.’Godfather of the slave trade’ He made his fortune by ‘blackbirding’. In the same park today when I walk by I’m never stopped - Ever. Aboriginal people are routinely stopped & asked to ID themselves by police
