About

SE Labs aims to improve information technology security by assessing products and services designed to detect attacks, protect against intrusions or both. We test a range of solutions including endpoint software, network appliances and cloud services. Our tests are technically accurate and relevant, and are conducted with the utmost integrity.

We perform private testing as well as producing public reports.

The company's founder is Simon Edwards, ex-Technical Director of security testing organisation Dennis Technology Labs and Chairman of the Board of the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO). He has been testing anti-malware and other security products since 1995 and published results for the first 'real-world' anti-malware test, which involved full end-to-end threat testing using internet-connected endpoints, inclusion of web-based exploits and full execution of malware.

Simon wrote the IEEE paper 'Four Fs of Anti-Malware Testing' and the Virus Bulletin paper 'Effectively Testing APT Defences', which he presented at the VB Conference 2015 in Prague.

Constantly innovating, SE Labs has developed next-generation testing to prove the abilities of 'next-generation' security products using a comprehensive, full-stack approach to security assessment powered by true and detailed threat intelligence. Our end-to-end, targeted attack detection, protection and response testing is world class and capable of evaluating endpoint, appliance and cloud-based products and services.

SE Labs is a member of the Microsoft Virus Information Alliance (VIA); the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO); and the Messaging, Malware and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group (M3AAWG).

SE Labs is BS EN ISO 9001 : 2015 and ISO / IEC 27001 : 2013 certified for The Provision of IT Security Product Testing.
