My plumbing experience was to have the plumbing disconnected under the sink so the counter top and new sink could be installed. I thought the service of $115 was high, but usually if there is an additional fees, it is usually rolled into the cost of repairs or labor. This company also charged 3.75 % for putting it on a credit card, which was not mentioned until I received the invoice in the mail after paying on the phone.
Then of course they had to come back to reconnect. They charged another $119..00 for service and 1.5 hrs for labor $198 and $54 for parts and rolled neither of the service charges
So to have the plumbing disconnected and reconnected $499.44 . Definitely not an amount I expected..
I think it is rather rude and a bit dishonest for people to not divulge their total fees upfront, an of course we should know to ask. But the normal person wouldn't know the questions to ask until they are burnt once like this, and then there still could be costs for walking up stairs or charge another service call if they need to go somewhere to use the bathroom and come back. THAT ISN'T A QUESTION I WOULD THINK TO ASK.
However I won't call this company again, and of course I will share my experience with other people who are talking about plumbing. .

I had 207 Plumbing come to fix a leak in my ceiling. It's a terrible, terrible company to do business with. He came and fixed a broken pipe in the ceiling, and I asked him to check the rest of the pipe to make sure that nothing else was broken, he said everything was OK and charged me $219.00 for 45 minutes and left. Never cleaned up his mess. I went to clean up the mess after he left and found there was more damage to the pipe. I called him to come back, which he did. He looked at the water coming down from the ceiling, into a light fixture and said he had another job to go to and couldn't come back until next week. He also wanted to charge me $350.00 to come back. I told him that was too much and he said he would make an exception and only charge me $219.00. Now I have major damage done to the ceiling, the light fixture and the floor. All of this could have been prevented if he had stayed and fixed the problem. I will NOT hire him again.

I called a Septic tank specialist out to pump my 1,000 gallon septic tank system. I was quoted $185.00 but because of the overage (my tank was past the 1,000 gallons) I paid &471.00 and found out that I have to get a new pipe line because a tree root or something is causing my septic not to drain properly.

My plan was to have an old kitchen faucet head replaced with a new one I had bought, a 5 minute job at most. The plumber told me it would first be a $28 assessment fee and then a "job " cost but they could not quote phone costs or give me any indication of a range cost. I declined to use them and to find a handyman instead. Plumbers stories significantly overcharging seem prevalent and I could see it could well happen to me. I got a handyman who did the job in 3 minutes flat! The Plumbing Costs Chart you sent out is good, it shows it would probably have cost me $200 for 5 minutes plus $28 assessment fee.

Hello I had a plumber do an estimate for me to replace our copper pipes with plastic as we have no existing walls up in our basement yet...pretty basic job... so we figured we could upgrade as we do live in Northern Ontario and it does tend to get quite cold here in the winters. We dont have any existing problems with our plumbing right now just figured it would be good time to do the job and perhaps change the pipes to 3 quarter inch for faster flow. Well I never thought in all my life I would get an estimate back that would state $350.00 an hour in labor...yes that is correct $350.00 an hour...estimated 10 hours for the job to be completed. So he quoted me $3500.00 for labor alone.. not supplies? Well needless to say I will be happy with my half inch copper pipes and will happily wait for my bathtub to fill up at a slower pace. Just wanted to know what your thoughts are on this $350.00 an hour quote? Thank you and enjoy your day.

plumbers must be asked directly what they charge hourly and if that is in addition to a service charge. The two are separate and I think they have gotten away with outrageous charges because of the potential of water damaging homeowner structures. I had a plumber (not Home advisor) come and replace a part in my kitchen sink that was under warranty---the spray nozzle had been leaking...He charged me $85.00 for 15 minutes of work and I will never use Mr King again.

I just had my pipe under the sink unclogged and new pipes put in $600.00, then they flushed out the pipe from under the sink to the outside pipe $700.00, Total of $1.600.00, I thought that the price was high, I got the plumber from Home Advisors, not sure they had to do all they did but they said I needed the work done. The same evening hike using the dishwasher I had a leak in one of the pipes they put in, they came back the next day to fix it. Don't know if I will use them again.. They were K&D kitchens.

Find out before they come out if they are charging a "travel fee". It seems outrageous to me that someone located within 25 miles or less of your home should charge $85.00 just to show up! Why doesn't Home Advisor mention that possibility when you first inquire about a specific plumber?

I thought that my sump pump had ended its life and needed to be replaced. The contractor I found through Home Adviser came out the following day and arrived reasonably promptly. The technician tested the pump and it wasn't responding. He then checked the breaker panel and all seemed well. However he checked to see if power was reaching the outlet, it wasn't so he tripped some breakers and reset them and the power to my pump came on and the pump works so a replacement wasn't necessary. He charged $75.00 which I think was reasonable for a call-out fee and time spent.

I used Go Green Express Home Services for a minor plastic pipe repair under my kitchen sink...The worker did a great job fixing this minor pipe plastic pipe repair( my original pipe was too short and he needed to extended the pipe and then reconnect). It took him less than 10 minutes to fix. I was first quoted $125 +tax but when the worker went to his truck and spoke to whoever he spoke to at the office, the price rose to $155.10 +tax for a total of $167.10...I thought that was a little too high. Will I use this company again, I Don't Know. It would be helpful if they would have a set price list for jobs (minor repairs, Major repairs etc...), then you as the consumer can see beforehand what the cost maybe and work from there with the company. Minor repairs, Major repairs this company should at least have a set-price list. ..The worker was great and efficient and did a good job on the repair but their prices are a bit costly. And yes, I did write this in their review.

I have no problem paying for any service I receive but when Allied Reddi-Rooter came into my home and immediately tell me and them tell me it would cost me 350.00 for them to install a new Rheem water heater (his recommendation) that cost 409.00 I have a problem. If the cost is exactly how Home Advisor indicates then he’s charging 350.00an hour. I did my homework checked with other plumbers and it. Would not take an hour to remove old and install the new water heater. Thank Goodness I did my research won’t be using their services and I will be letting others know what happen to me. #3 Nothing about a air gap item #RA2-401 costing $i66. I did not know I could cancel the job when the job pricing was told to me. Again, if I knew what the job was going to cost, I would have said NO WAY.

Sometimes a faucet leak can be stopped by replacing the rubber washer at the end of a faucet stem or cartridge. This is a more common repair on older fixtures when things were built to last and designed to be able to be maintained. Other times the whole stem or cartridge needs replacement or the bibb seat deeper back into the fixture needs replacement. That leads to matching up the right components and often times making a trip to the hardware store or plumbing supply house necessary due to the many varieties, makes and models of faucets. My advice is to make sure your Plumber has faucet repair kit on their truck before having them come out to assess the issue.

CON'T FROM COMMENTS EARLIER. However, the installation took less than 3/4/ hour and was a basic regulator with no other function. Looking up the price afterwards, invoice did not list type or price, it appears that it would have cost me around $60 for the regulator and another $15 or so for the additional supplies necessary to install it and it was really a rather simple job with easy access. Given that, it seems that $300 for less that an hours worth of on site work, company says it does not include commute time in its prices, is a little high. While flat rate quotes are nice, they must take into consideration situations where the work load differs depending on the circumstances. Therefore, unless you are at the upper end of the harder work needed than the average job. it can be argued that my estimated price of $300 for labor was more than a little high. Maybe I am wrong since I have not used their services for years and am not knowledgeable of the costs of equipment and professional labor today.

Needed to replace a water pressure regulator. Looking at the retail costs of the regulator, they seem to run from abouit $60 to over $300 for one that includes more that the basic control of water pressure in the house. Had not used a pro plumber for over 20 years so I was not up on the costs associated with needing their help. I was contacted by at least 3 plumbers but only one, Right Now Plumbers, gave me an instant quote of $394 for the service without me even asking. Although I thought this price seemed a little high for a job that takes less than an hour to complete, I accepted their service. I replaced the leaking wax seal at the bottom flange with a rubber seal, had to change the tubing from the shut -off valve with a hose, replace the shut-off valve. I did it my self. I enjoyed doing it.
How much I save, about, in Somerset NJ. It taken me a good 6 hours together with running two times to Home Depot.
