Comment: Project specifications: 1. Excavate into the existing slope about 5' from the existing base. There is a large stone (about 1 foot of it above ground) or rock outcropping which has to be removed or broken. 2. Build a dry stack field stone wall (2-3 men boulders) with a height varying between 2 and 3 feet and about 95 feet length 3. The wall has to be slightly terraced into the slope, about 2 inches for every 1 foot height. The base stones have to be laid in a trench leveled with 2-3 inches of crushed rock and sand, with at least 2 inches submerged under ground level for stability. Joints between layers of stone and gaps have to be filled and tamped down with soil and smaller rocks used as âshimsâ so that there is as little wobble as possible. 4. Wider, flatter, and heavier stones to be used as capstones to provide a finished look and hold the stones underneath in place. Some of the top stones may have to be mortared to those underneath to prevent movement.
