Tuition Rates
Annual estimates are based on published tuition and technology fees assuming 30 undergraduate or 18 graduate-level semester credit hours.Technology fees are $50 per course and are covered by grants for U.S. active-duty military service members, and for Guard and Reserve personnel when using military tuition assistance.

As an accredited university, we are able to accept many forms of financing from public and private sources, including:

Federal Student Aid (FSA)

The federal government offers a number of financial aid options to help you pay for school, and our financial aid representatives are fully trained to answer your FSA questions. You'll start by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine if you are eligible for federal aid. (Our FAFSA school code is 038193-00.) You'll want to submit all required financial aid forms at least 5 weeks before you plan to start taking courses.

Military TA

Our finance team has decades of experience helping active-duty service members pay for school using military tuition assistance. In addition, we offer service members:

  • A tuition grant designed to cap our undergraduate tuition at $250/credit hour and graduate tuition at $325/credit.
  • Technology fees covered by grants for active-duty servicemembers when using military TA.

Employer Contributions

AMU has educational partnerships with many employers and associations. Be sure to accurately enter your employer information when you complete our admissions application. Your employer might also offer a tuition reimbursement plan as one of your benefits.

While we don't directly offer university scholarships, there are many opportunities to apply for private scholarships or loans.

Self Pay Online

The university accepts MasterCard®, Visa®, or Discover® credit cards during registration checkout. We also offer electronic debit from your bank to pay for tuition in full or to set up an automatic payment plan to spread tuition costs over 2 to 3 months.

If you plan to use any form of financial assistance, it's important to start the process early. After you apply for enrollment or financial aid, please check your email frequently and respond promptly to our requests for items such as tax information or transcripts.
 

Ways to Save

In addition to our affordable tuition rates, here are ways to save when paying for school.

Military-Affiliated Savings

*Military-affiliated students receive a tuition grant that caps undergraduate tuition at $250/credit hour and graduate tuition at $325/credit hour. This grant is for U.S. active-duty servicemembers and their spouses/dependents, Guard, Reserve, and veterans.

In addition, our technology fees are waived for U.S. active-duty military service members, and for Guard and Reserve personnel when using military TA.

Undergraduate Book Grant

Ebooks are provided at no cost if you are enrolled in undergraduate courses for credit. The undergraduate book grant is estimated to save $250 per academic semester if you are registered as a full-time student.

Transfer Credits

You can take full advantage of our transfer credit options, including credit for your previous college courses and military service. Don’t leave your hard-earned credits behind.

Prior Learning Assessment

Earning credit for real-world experiences can help you accelerate degree completion and save on total cost of tuition. Learn more about our prior learning assessment (PLA) program.

  • Transcripts (per copy):
    • Official electronic: $10
    • Official paper: $20

*Technology fees are covered by grants for U.S. active-duty military service members, and for Guard and Reserve personnel when using military tuition assistance.

Note: Fees may vary by academic program. For example, ENGR and ELEN courses incur a $100 technology fee. Please view your program of interest for exact fees.

Refunds & Withdrawals

If you withdraw from or drop a course, your account may be credited based on the guidelines listed below.

8 Week Course Withdrawal Refund Schedule

  • Before or during week 1: 100% refund
  • During week 2: 75%
  • During weeks 3 and 4: 50%
  • During weeks 5 through 8: No refund

16 Week Course Withdrawal Refund Schedule

  • Before or during week 1 or 2: 100% refund
  • During weeks 3 and 4: 75%
  • During week 5 through 8: 50%
  • During weeks 9 through 16: No refund

Course withdrawals could impact your eligibility for some financial aid, so it is important to look into that prior to making a decision.

Be a Smart Consumer

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau website provides information about how to pay for college including tools to compare college costs and financial aid offers. You can also use the Department of Education's College Scorecard and College Navigator to search national databases.
