We have compiled this key consumer information from across our university to help you make informed decisions regarding your education. Also, in compliance with state and federal regulations, and in keeping with our student-first philosophy, we annually notify our students (via email and an ecampus link) about the availability of this information.

General institutional information.

Accreditation and licensure of institution and programs
American Public University System (APUS) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
APUS complies with the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, which regulates the confidentiality of data in education records and terms for disclosure of information.

Drug and alcohol abuse prevention
APUS is committed to achieving an alcohol and drug-free workplace. Accordingly, APUS has the right and obligation to maintain a safe, healthy and productive working and learning environment through policies on drug and alcohol abuse prevention.

Copyright and file sharing
Faculty, staff, and students must comply with federal copyright and trademark laws. In addition APUS outlines additional copyright infringement policies within the student handbook.

Safety & Security (Clery Act)
As required by the Clery Act, APUS publishes an annual security report containing certain university safety and security information and three years of relevant campus crime statistics (if any). The report is available at http://www.apus.edu/disclosure/Clery-Act-2017-Annual-Security-Report.pdf. You may request a paper copy by emailing [email protected].

Notice of Nondiscrimination (Title IX)
In accordance with the requirements set forth in Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), American Public University System, Inc. (APUS) provides notice of nondiscrimination and states that APUS does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its education programs and activities. 

State of West Virginia Policy on Registered Sex Offenders
APUS is headquartered in the State of West Virginia, which requires sex offenders to register with the State Police. West Virginia makes this information available to law enforcement agencies and to the public on a Sex Offender Registry.
