Reviews of San Antonio Stone Countertop Contractors
San Antonio, TX
Preston offered a very competitive estimate for a granite counter-top and tile back splash install. We were ultimately swayed to choose Titan Remodeling because of their willingness to work any day of the week and ability to schedule granite fabrication and installation so soon after choosing the stone. They were the only installer who would perform all the plumbing and appliance disconnections and the final reconnections - saving us the trouble of hiring additional contractors. There were several scheduling conflicts during the installation process but Preston kept us apprised of the situation and was flexible in working around our schedule.

Fox was the most reasonable bid of several. Work was done efficiently and professionally. Install crew was great, as well as plumber (Boyle). Would definitely use Fox again. Sam Fox quickly returned my calls prior to work. Love the new countertops!

MDC did a great job installing the granite countertops! We are so pleased, we've commissioned them for another job. Follow-up was slow coming and kept me from giving a perfect score (although courteous and professional service) . I have recommended MDC to friends and neighbors!

San Antonio Granite Counters
Granite countertops, in San Antonio or anywhere else, have been one of the top-tier counters for years and remain extremely popular. Whether you want a beautiful counter, or something you can abuse with your frantic cooking, granite counters have it all. If you want to set hot dishes down, or like to generally wreak havoc on your kitchen during cooking, granite is heat- and stain-resistant. Plus, as long as they're properly installed and treated, they're all but impervious to scratching, cracking, and peeling. Of course, you do have to pay for this combination of elegance and performance.
Texas Granite
Granite is Mother Nature's creation, so it might not be obvious why it's so expensive. Naturally, granite doesn't come out of the ground shaped, manufactured, and ready-to-go into your home. It takes a lot more than just a guy chiseling away to prepare a stone counter. Granite must be quarried, shipped to a granite fabricator through a dealer, and then on to your installer and your home.
While this process tends to make granite expensive, you might be able to save some money by reducing the distance your granite must travel. Choosing Texas granite certainly won't turn your project into a nickel-and-dime operation, but it can be helpful to keep your counter installation to a reasonable, final cost.
Other Stone Countertops
As much as we give props to the Lone Star State, HomeAdvisor is by no means suggesting, or attempting to sell you on, the idea that this is the only way to go for your new countertop. Different granite and different stone can make for great counters as well. Each stone has a unique color and texture. Each quarry has its own rates.
In fact, not only does the exact stone and quarry you choose affect the qualities of the stone, even the section of the quarry where the stone comes from can affect these qualities. Color and texture will vary throughout the quarry. Plus, stone near the top of the quarry may have significantly less structural integrity, making this stone unsuitable for some countertop applications.
Cost of Countertops
HomeAdvisor tracks all the home improvement projects we process, including granite countertops in San Antonio. Here's what we found out, to give you some notion of what to expect once you start receiving bids: The average for granite counters in San Antonio and around the country is about $4,500. For small bathroom counters, you may be able to get it done for as little as $1,500-$3,000. For premium stone for a large kitchen counter, your counter can range well over $10,000.
Project Length
Our same tracking shows the average length of a granite counter installation is one to two weeks. Again, choosing local granite or other local stone may help cut this time down, but it's rare to see projects come in much under a week. Plus, many granite countertops are part of a larger San Antonio kitchen remodel that may take six weeks to complete. Unless you're in a hurry, take some time selecting both your San Antonio granite counter installer and the granite itself. One San Antonio homeowner suggested having the contractor bring a few granite samples to your home so you can see what the granite looks like in your kitchen.
