Reviews of Houston Stone Countertop Contractors
Houston, TX
Tony, did a good work on my granite countertops.
Houston, TX
We hired Gerico Construction to install new kitchen counters, backsplash, sink, faucet, cooktop and downdraft. Overall we were very pleased. Gerald is very hands-on and was quick to respond with any questions or concerns. He was actually present most of the time. His crew was professional and polite. The backspash looks great and the counters were not quite what we expected(not Gerald's fault at all). We are getting used to the silstone and how to maintain it. At present we have not had problems with any of the work and would certainly use Gerico Construction again and would recommend them. Pros: Professional, courteous, knowledgeable in their craft, easy to reach and responsive, and pricing was competitive. Cons: Worked too long into the evening. Need to establish time to end each day; We paid for cooktop and down draft to be installed but had too many problems so we did it ourselves- should have had a partial refund coming.(I will give Gerald lots of credit for trying to do the installation); I would like to have had suggestions of places to go look at selections for backsplashes and counter tops. I rated Gerico a 4 star because 5 star is perfect to me and it's hard to reach perfection in everything. However, I felt all went well and Gerald is a wonderful contractor and easy to work with on your project.

Ideas & Inspiration from Houston Countertop Contractors
Houston Granite Counters
If you've looked into granite countertops at all, you probably know these two things. First, few countertops can match the beauty and performance of a granite counter in Houston kitchens and bathrooms. Second, top-tier counters of this kind aren't cheap.
Few home improvements of any kind don't work well with the beauty of natural stone. Plus, granite countertops are heat- and stain-resistant, making them great for cooks who like to work at a frantic pace. You can set hot dishes on your counter and won't have to worry every time a mixture sloshes over the side of a mixing bowl. Quality installations will also make your counter all but invulnerable to scratching, cracking, and peeling.
Texas Granite
Granite isn't particularly expensive to quarry, but by the time it's shipped through a dealer to a fabricator, who fashions and finishes the granite to its exact specs, and then on to the installer and your home, the final price tag may elicit initial sticker shock. There are ways to cut the cost of your granite counter.
Choosing Texas granite is one way, as the less distance the granite has to travel the lower the transportation costs. Texas granite has been used for such construction as the State Capitol Building, the famous Galveston Seawall, and nearly every jetty along the Texas Gulf Coast.
Other Stone Countertops
Of course, Texas granite isn't the only granite out there, and it's not the only Texas stone, either. Marble, slate, sandstone, quartz, and other stone can all make for great stone counters. Choosing stone for your counter is just as important, if not more so, than choosing your San Antonio granite counter installer. Using these professionals for their stone expertise can be a great resource in making your stone choice. Different stone has different colors, textures, and performance qualities. In fact, different quarries and even different sections of the same quarry can have different characteristics. Stone from the upper layers of a quarry, for example, tends to have a lower stone density and structural integrity, which can make the stone unsuitable for some counter applications.
Cost of Counters
HomeAdvisor collects data on the home improvement projects we process to give you valuable information on items such as Houston granite counters. In Houston, the average granite counter costs about $4,500. Small bathroom counters can be had for as little as $1,500-$3,000. Larger kitchen counters with premium granite or other stone can range well over $10,000. Again, looking around for different stone and different Houston granite counter installers can help you ensure you're getting the best price. Just make sure when receiving bids that you're comparing costs with the same quality stone, and the same quality of installation.
Project Length
Our same data tells us that you can expect your counter installation to take about one to two weeks. Choosing local Texas stone can reduce your project length just as it reduces cost, but it's rare to see projects come in much under a week. Many counter installations are part of a full Houston bathroom or kitchen remodel that can take four to six weeks to complete. Trying to fit the right stone for a bathroom or kitchen that hasn't even been remodeled yet can be a unique challenge. Talking to a Houston interior designer can help create a beautiful counter that works seamlessly with your remodeling project.
