Can we help you find Bathroom pros?

If your shower or bathtub is older, then it might be showing signs of discoloration or disrepair. It also just might be outdated and becoming an eyesore or something you'd like to update. Installing a new bathtub can be an expensive project, so installing a bathtub liner or refinishing your tub might be a good option. You'll want to talk to a professional first to help you decide what the best course of action will be for your tub. Though installing a new liner can be a DIY job, a pro typically has access to better materials and can ensure that it's installed correctly. Once you find a good pro, then the cost to install a bathtub or shower liner will depend on a couple of factors.

Liner Materials

There is a wide range of bathtub liners to choose from, and that will ultimately affect the cost to install a bathtub or shower liner. You can find liners in a ton of different colors or styles to match your bathroom's current style, or a new style if you're remodeling or redecorating your space.

Customizing the Liner

For a straightforward tub insert, the cost to install a bathtub or shower liner should be on the lower end of the price scale. However, if you're covering a full tub and shower enclosure, with shelving and other accessories, then you can expect that the cost to install a bathtub or shower liner will increase to the highest end of that spectrum.

DIY vs. Pro Installation

If you decide to use a professional, then you can expect a better installation. If you try to do it yourself and make any mistakes, then cracks and leaks can occur, which can lead bacteria and other health issues. Using a professional will increase the cost to install a bathtub or shower liner, but will ensure a good and long lasting fit.

Refinishing the Liner

If you decide to go the refinishing route, then a pro will have the proper tools for ventilation from the harmful chemicals that need to be used. This will be included in the cost to install a bathtub or shower liner and would be an additional cost of doing it yourself. This is more expensive than installing a liner, however, as this consists of using a pressurized sprayer to apply a high-performance acrylic polymer coating that is specifically manufactured for refinishing laminate, porcelain, fiberglass and other materials.
Overall, the cost to install a bathtub or shower liner will depend on the liner you choose and who you choose to install it. A professional will make sure that everything is sealed properly so it looks like a new tub, while ensuring that no cracks or unhygienic conditions will occur. Make sure to talk to at least three professionals to find someone who you trust and who can offer a few options for your tub.

I have two bathrooms with same size dimensions for replacing a bathtub and wall tiles. Seems the contractors all seem to be quoting approximately 30-50% higher for the master bath vs the guest bath . Makes no sense if both bathrooms are replacing the same size bathtub and the same amount of tiles and are both alcove bathtubs. Extremely helpful site in researching options to redo my bathrooms.
