Halethorpe, MD
Dave and his dad were great to work with and were able to get our job done quickly and with minimal interruption to our daily routine. We had the flooring in our kitchen, front foyer, and a half bath replaced and the all-inclusive quote that Dave gave us before starting the job (including the tile) was exactly what it cost us when the work was done. This included removing several layer of old laminate flooring in the kitchen, dealing with the uneven floors in that room, and even shaving down the bottom of our pantry doors so that there were no issues with them opening and closing. The tile they use is an excellent quality and we have received many compliments already! We will definitely call Dave back again when we our ready to remodel our full bathroom! They were fantastic!

Ideas & Inspiration from Baltimore Tile Contractors
Baltimore Ceramic Tile
When most homeowners in Baltimore think tile, one of two products usually comes to mind: ceramic tile in Baltimore, and natural stone tile. Stone tile definitely has its attributes, including good looks, durability, and, well, good looks. When it comes to cost and variety, however, Baltimore ceramic floor tile and other ceramic tile products take the prize hands down.
It's Not Your Grandmother's Ceramic Tile
Granted, the slogan didn't exactly work wonders for Oldsmobile, but it fits perfectly for ceramic tile in Baltimore. Perhaps the most exciting thing about ceramic tile in Baltimore these days is the incredible range of products that are available for homeowners to choose from. If the words "ceramic tile" dredge up memories of Grandma's powder blue bathroom, or remind you of the gaudy pink tiles in the neglected half-bath down in your basement, it's high time that you expanded your horizons. From hand-painted Mexican terrazzo tile to imitation stone ceramic floor tile in Baltimore, and everything in between, ceramic tile has turned the corner from being a generic bargain product to offering up some of the most attractive and original tile designs on the market. Doesn't matter whether you live in a turn of the century farmhouse out in the suburbs, or a post-modern loft in the City, there's sure to be a ceramic tile design out there with your name on it.
Chameleon of Tile Products
One reason that ceramic tile has broken through the bland stereotypes that have followed it around for decades is the ability of technology to create ceramic tile in Baltimore that is a dead wringer for more expensive stone tile products. Whether it mimics travertine, tumbled marble, sandstone, or granite, ceramic tile manufacturing and glazing processes can create textures, shades, and glazes that fool even the most critical eye. And best of all, because you're talking clay instead of natural stone, you can save big bucks by having Baltimore ceramic floor tile installed instead of the real thing.
Choosing the Right Tile
We don't want to imply that choosing the right ceramic tile in Baltimore is easy pickings, however. A lot goes into the selection of a tile that meets the varied demands of different tile applications. Sitting down with a contractor who specializes in tile installation, or visiting a retailer dedicated to ceramic tile, is the best way to learn about the wide range of considerations that go into choosing the right tile for your project. Nevertheless, you'll want to polish up on your knowledge of tile glazings (high gloss, semi-gloss, matte, porcelain, hand painted, and unglazed tiles are a few examples), manufacturing processes (factory made, stamped, and hand made tile are all possibilities), densities (impervious, vitreous, semi-vitreous, and non-vitreous), and finishes (glazes vs. unglazed or sealed ceramic tile). Aside from looks, these qualities of individual tile lines will help you in determining whether a tile is best used on an outdoor patio, as a Baltimore ceramic floor tile indoors, or as a decorative wall tile. Choosing the right tile is the difference between a tile installation that you'll enjoy for years to come, and one that you'll have to replace just a few years down the road.
Installation and CostsFinally, you'll need to take into account installation and cost when it comes to Baltimore ceramic tile. Based on the information that HomeAdvisor gathers from the homeowner surveys we send out to all past clients, an average ceramic tile installation in the Baltimore metropolitan area runs about $2,400. Tile quality, and the size and nature of your installation, can cause that figure to fluctuate, of course, but it's worth noting that a tile installation of any sort is no small undertaking. Between tearing up the old flooring, leveling out the subfloor, laying down cement board or other underlayments (if necessary), applying thinset mortar and tiles, applying and sealing the grout, and waiting in between each step for materials to dry and set before moving onto the next, installing tile ends up being quite a project.
Avid DIYers can tackle this job on their own, but most homeowners prefer to seek out the services of a professional contractor when it comes to installing ceramic tile in Baltimore. If that sounds more your speed, use a contractor referral service like HomeAdvisor to find reliable contacts, get bids from at least three different contractors, and ask for, and check, references before you sign any papers. It's far and away the most proven system if you want to end up with Baltimore ceramic floor tile, ceramic bathroom tile, ceramic tile countertops, or any other ceramic tile installation that will provide the good looks and long life that you deserve to get out of your investment.
