Reviews of Washington Window Repair Companies
Alexandria, VA
Outstanding carpentry skills to repair two rotted out wood Anderson window frames. Custom frames were made to match our other windows which are no longer available. Repairs were made from inside and outside of the windows which meant climbing up 30 feet on a ladder. Our front door was sticking badly and was fixed as well. We have an older home and I will call again if I need help on other repairs. On time, cleans up and kept us from installing vinyl windows which would not have matched.
Bethesda, MD
We hired the company to check for our windows. Dale worked for the whole morning, but unfortunately he did not fix it. So he did not charge us, and gave us a quote on replacing the window.
Washington, DC
I like the repair person that came to fix the window and it was done faster than I thought it would be. Really great service and on time

Washington DC Window Repair
There are several different tasks associated with window repair. Washington DC windows can have many different ailments including broken or loose glass, ill-fitting frames, drafts, sticking, and several others; each of these window repairs can make operating the window more difficult, and several can make the air in your living areas less comfortable. Window repair is a task that has many benefits. If you are tired of dealing with malfunctioning windows, there are several options that are worth considering.
DIY Window Repair
Depending on how large and involved the problem is, experienced DC do-it-yourselfers might find window repair a fun and viable project. Some window repairs are as simple as plugging a hole with caulk, but be careful! Though there are many resources (both in print and online) that will give you step-by-step directions for plugging up drafts or even replacing glass, unless you have already done it, some jobs might be a little trickier than you first imagine. Especially when dealing with multi-paned windows or windows of larger than average design, professional attention is generally the norm.
Options for Professional Window Repair in Washington DC
If you have little desire to fix your own windows or find that the particular job you're looking at is a bit more involved than you have time to deal with, there are a couple options for window repair. DC homeowners with several offending windows are likely to be better off hiring a service provider who deals specifically with window issues, however, when you only have one or two small issues with your windows, you might consider hiring a handyman service instead of a window repairman. The nice thing about hiring a handyman is that you can get several different small jobs completed by the same person on the same day. For anyone with a leaky faucet, a sticking door, or any number of small problems around the home in addition to a window issue, a handyman can often fix them all at a lower cost than hiring a different service provider for each individual task!
Window Repair vs. Replacement
While leaps and bounds have been made in the window manufacturing industry over the last few decades, no window can last forever, and this is especially true for windows that are 20 years old or more. If the majority of your windows are sticking, drafty, single-paned models that have been in place for many years, replacement might be a better option than window repair. Washington DC homeowners can benefit more than most by replacing all of their windows with newer models; newer, higher efficiency windows will not only open and close easier, but are very likely to make your living areas more comfortable, and can even save you money on energy bills during the winter!
