Can we help you find Home Theater pros?

A home theater is a broad term that refers generally to recreating a theater going experience in your own home, through a combination of great picture and sound. In general, a home theater system would include a large state of the art television to recreate that "big screen" feel and a dynamic sound system designed to mimic the sound achieved in a movie theater where the speakers surround you on all sides. There are many ways to achieve this in your home through a combination of components. How closely you want to replicate the sound and picture of a movie theater depends on the quality of each component in your system. There are a number of factors that will influence the cost of installing your home theater wiring and components

Theater Components

There are as many different types and levels of components for a home theater as there are people who want a home theater system. Everyone has their own vision of what creates their home theater experience. The most important aspect of constructing your home theater is planning ahead and knowing your budget. Which brand and quality level of Television, BluRay player, receiver, gaming system etc. is completely up to you and your budget.

What Cables Do I Need?

In doing a home theater installation, it's important first to consider the placement and installation of those cables that will be difficult or impossible to install at a later stage of the job. Patch cables reaching from one component to another on an equipment rack are easy to deal with at any time, and have no added expense other than the cable itself. But in-wall runs to displays, speakers and the like are best dealt with early.
Anything that is placed inside a wall will become an expensive thing to change if the wall needs to be re-opened after installation is complete. So planning ahead is the most important aspect of any home theater wiring installation.

Pass-through Wall Jacks: Neat Entry and Exit Points

Another question to be considered is how cable will come out of a wall. There are basically two choices: one can run cables out of an open hole in a wall, straight to the device being connected, or one can use a pass-through wall plate jack, and connect the device to the jack with a cable. The latter, of course, is a familiar solution -- most cable tv installations are handled in just that way. This method will cost a bit more, but will look and function better

Cable Concealment

The desire to conceal many random cables and wires is a common issue for home theater installations. If you want to encase all your cables and wires inside walls, or build concealment boxes that are attached to and painted like the walls in your home theater, you will spend a lot of money on a purely aesthetic solution. One low cost way to better conceal your cables is to just choose cable colors that match the color of your room. Clearly you can still see the cables, but they look much more pleasing to the eye. Many installers offer cables in many colors for just this purpose.
