Comment: The paint on our concrete front porch and steps has been degrading for some time, and is now in horrible shape, peeling and cracking and chipping off. One or more of the many layers is leaded (which I have confirmed with wipe tests for lead coming back sky-high). I started to do the removal myself, using Lead-Out Paint Stripper, and have done a couple small sections, but the work is so time-consuming that I want to hire out the rest of the work. Looking for someone to finish, ideally using the Lead-Out stripper I have, but I'm open to other approaches from someone who knows better. Want someone with knowledge of lead and the proper procedures to take to protect themselves, our house and the surrounding soil from contamination. Total surface area is around 120 square feet.

Comment: Our 2-story freestanding house (built 1925) is in need of a paint job. We have twin 2 year old toddlers who are at home during the day and are concerned about lead dust contamination. We'd like a quote for house painting with appropriate lead abatement procedures and welcome advice on any other steps we need to make to protect the kids.

Comment: Report of an inspection by DC Housing Authority reads: "a visual assessment of the premises revealed the potential for lead hazard as established by HUD regulations . . . . paint stabilization per 24 CFR Part 35 must be conducted by trained work orders utilizing safe work practices. Paint stabilization (must be) performed by trained workers and supervised by a DC certified supervisor or contractor. I therefore need to have a DC certified supervisor or contractor supervise the work.

Comment: At some time in the past, my recently purchased rowhouse (built in 1925) had an addition added to the back and the exterior brick wall became the interior of one room. It had a thick layer of paint on it, which I tested for lead. That came back negative. I started stripping the paint with PeelAway-1, and then tested the cleaned surface for lead. Not surprisingly, this time it came back positive. The PeelAway process left a bit more residue than I was expecting, and now I'm worried about creating lead dust. Time for the professionals to take over! There is ~80 square feet of paint to be removed. Thanks, xxxx
