Comment: We are real estate investors and I am the designer/architect and co-general contractor for a 6'-2" x 10'-2" dormer/bathroom addition to a Cape Cod style home in Palatine at 109 S. Quentin. The General Contractor who worked with me and pulled the permits for us abandoned the project without notice, leaving us in a bad position. Because the dormer is a relatively small addition, he gave false information that a licensed roofing contractor wasn't necessary and permission to proceed building the roof to the carpenters. Palatine requires a licensed roofer. Now the closing which was supposed to be today (5/31) is delayed because the Village won't allow any final inspections and a Certificate of Occupancy until the roof is inspected and certified by a licensed roofer.
