Kaspersky Security 9.0 for Microsoft SharePoint Server Maintenance Release 3 was released on February 16, 2017. Full version number is 9.3.58811.0.

Improvements and new features

The application now provides the following capabilities:
  • Interaction with Kaspersky Security Center:
    • View information on the protection status of SharePoint servers (monitoring of the operation of the Anti-Virus, Anti-Phishing, and Content Filtering modules, connection to the SQL database, and other aspects of the application's operation).
    • View statistics on the application's operation on SharePoint servers.
    • Distribute update packages for the Anti-Virus and DLP Module databases to protected SharePoint servers whose network settings block connections to external network resources.
    • Monitor the versions of the Anti-Virus and DLP Module databases to make sure they are up-to-date.
    • Log information about the application's operation to the Kaspersky Security Center Administration Server Event Log.
  • Select servers for simultaneous on-demand scan for the purpose of distributing the load and reducing the task completion time.
  • Run an on-demand scan in incremental mode.
  • Remove only the scanned infected versions of a file during an on-demand scan.
  • Log the following events to the Windows Event Log:
    • On-demand scan tasks are started or stopped.
    • The application configuration is modified.
    • The status of application modules is changed.
    • Anti-Virus databases become outdated and there are errors when attempting to update them.
    • Other application events.
  • Assign a user the KSH AV Operators or KSH AV Security Officers role for the purpose of restricting application access permissions.
  • Track data leaks based on the following new categories: Personal identification (Russia), U.S. Federal Law FCRA, and U.S. Federal Law GLBA.
  • Track data leaks based on the Document templates and Document quotations categories that can be configured by the user.
  • Add exclusions from scanning when tracking data leaks.
  • Monitor the application's operation via System Center - Operations Manager.
The application uses the latest versions of the Anti-Virus, Anti-Phishing, and DLP Module kernels.

Special considerations

  • When archives are excluded from on-access scan, .docx files that contain viruses may be uploaded to the SharePoint server. The log will record that the file has been excluded from scanning.
  • Exclusions from anti-virus scan by masks do not apply to archived files. The application scans these files according to the general anti-virus scan settings.
  • If a proxy server is used when updating databases from Kaspersky Lab servers, those databases cannot be updated via the proxy server when you change the update source to an FTP server.
  • If the application is installed on several farm servers at once, error warnings are displayed when the anti-virus settings of the SharePoint server are updated. These messages can be ignored.
  • The Kaspersky Security Network service will not work if the address of an inactive DNS server is specified in the settings of the primary network connection.

Main known issues

Errors related to Microsoft SharePoint Server implementation:
  • If Kaspersky Security blocks a file that has been uploaded to a SharePoint server through Explorer View, several instances of this file are moved to Backup (if the file has been blocked by a virus scan), or several incidents are created (if the file has been blocked due to a possible data leak).
  • When an attempt is made to download and save an infected file (by selecting Save as in Internet Explorer) attached to a calendar event, a message appears saying that the site cannot be opened.
  • If an infected file has been uploaded to a SharePoint server through Explorer View and Kaspersky Security has blocked that file, all versions of that file are deleted from the SharePoint server.
