Comment: I already started it. We moved here in 2003 and the big crack at the top of the stairs intrigued me. I got a hammer and a screwdriver (it was big) and began at the crack. Woohoo there was brick. I know a guy who did his house. He said don't worry about imperfections they add class. He bought a bar and did it in there. I fell in love with the look and I had to see what was behind the huge crack from floor to ceiling. It's a lot of work and I don't think I could do it myself but I have a son and friends. What do you paint over brick once it's done to your satisfaction. I Have a gas fireplace at the bottom of the steps.i also want to have my original oak floors refinished. Any suggestions on what to do if we can't do it.
