Comment: Approx. 100 year old 5 story apartment bldg converted to condos in about 2000 with new partitions using standard wallboard. I'm helping my daughter with improvements to her condo in this building. Her living room has an alcove about 19.75 inches wide by 12.75 inches deep, with the back on the exterior wall side. She would like bookshelves in the alcove. I first thought we could use adjustable shelf brackets, but probing the back wall with stud finder and small nail holes, I can't find any studs! So now I'm thinking that a standalone bookcase custom made to fit into this alcove would work better. Height would be 6 feet. White smooth finish would be best.
