Comment: Our current trex deck is 11 years old. It is accessed from our kitchen, which is the first floor of our home, but to a walk out basement lot. It is 8 by 10, but we are looking at 8 by 10 or 10 by 10 replacement. The current deck is pulling away from the house and the supporting wood pillars are twisting. The deck has a staircase that is used to exit to walkout basement ground level Safety is #1 concern. We really do not entertain on the deck. We use it to access our backyard, and to grill occasionally. Low maintenance is #2; and then cost/ budget is #3.

Comment: Blue Spruce that was growing through the deck fell and snapped at the trunk. Unfortunately, the root ball lifted some of the joists and raised the deck about 3 inches near the tree, making it unlevel. About 3 joists will likely need to be altered since the ground moved. Not sure if the current footers were affected.
