Discussions will be of course about criteria to evaluate source code quality, but also about the evolution of the developer’s job. What does it mean today to be a Professional Developer ? What are the expectations and the challenges that a developer face on a daily basis ?
This event will be also a good opportunity to officially launch Sonar 2.0 and demonstrate the new features to cover the seventh quality axis : architecture & design.
For those who wish to attend (presentation is in French), you will need to
register.
Thanks to the Geneva JUG organizers !

During the next two months, several Sonar presentations should happen around the world. Here is the list of the ones I know about ;-)
- 15 Sept. in Paris, I’m going to present Sonar during the “Soirée Qualité du logiciel” organized by the Paris JUG
- 15 Sept. in Lyon (France), Freddy Mallet will do the same presentation at the same time during the “Qualité logicielle avec Kalistick & Sonar” organized by the Lyon JUG
- 2nd of Oct in Düsseldorf, Oliver Gierke is going to present Sonar during the GearConf.
- Freddy and Rémy Sanlaville will talk about Sonar during the Agile Tour 2009 in Geneva (Oct. 12th) and Grenoble (Oct. 20th). Most of the SonarSource team is going to be in Montreal for Agile Tour (Oct. 27th) to talk about the seven deadly sins.
For french speakers, I would like to mention as well that a year after writing a user guide in french, Romain Linsolas has updated it to reflect the features that have been added in the last 12 months. This is really a good job done by Romain !

No one from SonarSource could attend the event. However we are proud that Sonar is going to be represented there by a company who we share at least 3 values with: Agility, Open Source (GreenPepper) and Human values. This company is Pyxis !
At the same time, the first version of the Greenpepper Sonar plugin has been released. Go and meet the Pyxis’s team at Agile 2009 : they are really nice people, I am sure they will give you a demo of GreenPepper / Sonar… and maybe a Sonar tee-shirt ;-).

We mentioned it already in a previous post : Codehaus aka the Haus is probably the best forge available for business friendly open source projects; they have a very pragmatic approach to software development which leads them to choose and provide the best collaborative tools available on the market.
Since a couple of weeks, to make the service even better, the Haus has decided to offer Sonar as a service. This was announced on the Haus blog (inaugurated at that occasion !). The principle is very simple : projects must simply use Bambo hosted at Codehaus and create a job that runs mvn sonar:sonar.
After Nemo, the public instance of Sonar that can be used as a SaaS by open source projects, this is an important step toward mass adoption of code quality management tools.
