Need help? Here is how to get support.

1. Documentation

This very first step is to check the documentation, as it is very complete. It should offer everything you need to properly get started. Then you can find detailed information on every SonarQube feature and plugin.

2. Archives

If you did not find a solution in the documentation, take a look at Stack Overflow, this is where you will most likely find an answer to your question.
You can also browse the old user mailing list archives (on Nabble or Markmail) and the “SonarQube” Google group.

3. Ask a question or start a discussion

Still no luck? If you have a straightforward question, consider posting a question on Stack Overflow. If you need to report a bug, ask for a change in behavior, suggest a feature, or start a discussion, the “SonarQube” Google group is the place to go. But please choose only one channel and wait a reasonable amount of time to get an answer. Cross-posts make people cranky and needlessly burn limited bandwidth and good will.

  • Go to StackOverflow for questions like:
    • How do I… ?
    • I got this error, why ?
  • … on topics like:
    • installation,
    • configuration,
    • unexpected behaviour,
    • migration issue,
    • …etc.

Our team is continuously following the “sonarqube” tag and does its best to answer your questions. So please tag your questions with “sonarqube” along with any other useful tag like “javascript”, “mysql”, “web-services”, …etc. In order to be able to help you quickly, though, we’ll most likely need to know your version of the SonarQube platform and the versions of any relevant plugins or other software. If you don’t provide those in your question to start with, you’re almost guaranteed that we’ll ask for it anyway. :-)

  • Go to the SonarQube Google Group for things like:
    • Why is X implemented like …
    • Please add Y feature…
    • Rule xxxx raises a false positive…

If you are a seasoned user who wants to discuss new features or give feedback on existing ones, an early adopter who helps testing the upcoming releases of SonarQube or plugins, a plugin developer who needs help or who wants to request feedback on a new version of a plugin, then Stack Overflow is not the appropriate place to have such discussions. Instead, please reach us on the “SonarQube” Google group.
