Comment: Evaporator (cooling) coil is leaking refrigerant and probably should be replaced. The geothermal unit is a ClimateMaster model. VTD48GSSSLTDDSF serving three zones. Do I need to replace the entire upper unit including the blower tan before the end of 2016 to get an energy- saving federal income tax credit? Or should I simply replace the evaporator coil at less cost and with a shorter labor and parts warranty? I need to evaluate the cost vs benefit of these two alternatives before making a decision. I have a proposal from the original installing contractor Garber Heating and Air Conditioning of Morton IL. I want to get a second bid.
