What we’re looking for: Work with our team to build out the company software infrastructure across the whole stack from server-side to front-end.

Built a distributed processing pipeline for neural data on AWS, specced out the design and led implementation of a secure multi site experimental data sharing system, led computational neuroscientists in the transition from Matlab based research code to Python based production code and a multitude of developments that more often than not involve direct exposure to the details of data flow in the brain.

Potential projects include building classification and regression models for neural spiking data, decoding of the spatio-temporal patterns of spikes with respect to behavior, analyzing large-scale complex neural data, building mixed model of point-process signals, and other data-driven modeling projects.

You are the right person for this job if you are:

  • Strong in linear algebra/matrices, basis transformations, model order / dimension reduction, numerical methods, regression analysis, data analysis, nonlinear mathematical modeling
  • Adept at rapid prototyping, model generation, and testing

If you were on our team, this is what you would have done last month

Working with our modeling and experimental teams, and with our scientific advisors, to (a) build the core team for interfaces exploration, and (b) discover or create a path for near-term, medium-term and long-term neural interface technology on a ‘Moore’s Law’ improvement curve toward whole brain coverage for bidirectional information transfer.
Working with the cross-disciplinary members of our team, which includes professors at the University of Southern California (USC), to drive a neural system identification modeling platform that is pushing the state-of-the-art in neurocognitive therapeutics.

You are the right person for this job if you have:

  • Excellent personal communication skills and a penchant for building extensive and useful strategic networks of contacts and collaborators; builder of effective teams.
  • A knack for identifying those who have a problem and are looking for a solution, as well as those who have a solution and are looking for the right problem.

Senior Scientist

What we’re looking for: A senior scientist to build and lead a research team that lays the scientific foundation for developing and bringing to market this neuroprosthesis.

If you were on our team, this is what you would have done last month

  • Develop and lead an experimental research program for neural data production (e.g. human clinical studies, possible other experimental studies, design experimental protocols, outcome evaluation)
  • Build and manage our experimental research team to carry out every aspect of studies as needed, including coordinating with external research teams and vendors for study conduct.

You are the right person for this job if you have:

  • Industry experience performing research that supports early-stage product concepts and development of a commercial neurotech device
  • Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams developing, refining, and optimizing technology from proof of concept
  • Built, led and managed a preclinical/clinical multidisciplinary neuroscience research team (including biomedical engineers, neuroscientists, etc,), especially one involved in intracranial work
  • Managed and led multi-site, multi-investigator experiments, and managed research carried out in-house or through external vendors
  • Built and managed close collaborations with other industry/academic research teams as well as clinicians
  • A strong existing network of contacts in the neurotech / neurostimulation area to facilitate collaborations
  • Experience working in a fast-paced high growth entrepreneurial organization

What we’re looking for: A neuroscientist who excels at neural data collection and analysis, with specific expertise in intracranial neural recordings in human clinical studies.

If you were on our team, this is what you would have done last month

Design of all aspects of human intracranial studies including hardware setup and configuration, neural recording and stimulation protocols, and behavioral task design. Act as a liaison with the modeling group to ensure neural data is collected in a manner that supports model testing and development. Support development of behavioral tasks, including implementation on iPad. Oversee purchasing and inventory of supplies needed for clinical studies.
Involvement in clinical studies with patients and analysis of neural recording data.

You are the right person for this job if you have:

  • Experience with intracranial recording (e.g., BlackRock systems) and data analysis required. (Experience with single-unit recording and neurostimulation preferred.)
  • Programming skills and experience with statistical analysis software.
  • Great communication ability, allowing you to work effectively with multiple collaborators.
