Where to go in Las Vegas
Along Las Vegas Blvd, aka “The Strip,” distances can be deceiving – what looks like a short walk is often easier to drive. For a taste of vintage Vegas, roll downtown to Fremont St, where old-school casinos sidle up to a newly hip entertainment district. Inspect the Mob Museum’s gangster memorabilia, then motor north to tour the Neon Museum’s “boneyard” of cool retro signs. When you’re ready for a break from slot machines, head out of town for a panoramic desert drive into Red Rock Canyon or the Valley of Fire. Then cool off at the enormous, manmade Lake Mead, created by the Hoover Dam. The landmark art deco dam is open for public tours.

Getting around Las Vegas
Expect heavy traffic jams along the Strip on Friday and Saturday nights. At casinos, hotels and shopping malls, valet parking is free (though a tip is expected). Self-parking is usually free everywhere, except at some downtown casinos’ garages and lots. Avoid driving on the I-15 Fwy during weekday commuter rush hours.
