Work requested: Gut and redo two bathrooms, refinish top floor, install attic ladder, install new baseboard and shoe molding in the entire house. Initial sales call: After speaking with Jose Hung we were sold. We had spoken to almost 5 other companies about the work. The highlight of the conversation was the features that he recommended would look nice in the house were in fact really the best ones. He also gave proper warnings about what is possible and what may not be possible, which helped set the expectations clearly. He was also willing to work out a good price for us. Project management: Jose Pachano, simply put, is a striving project manager. We spent most of the time with him speaking about our ideas, listening to his, and compromising when needed. The project manager is the single most important person in any project. He went beyond the work we contracted for and helped us pickup heavy stuff from stores. All the 5 stars in this rating go to him. Tile work: Ricardo and Francis are the biggest reason why we were super happy at the end. These guys are the best at tile work. They understood our ideas and went beyond our expectations. Schluter invislbe drain and edging: We wanted a modern look in the house so we chose high-end Schluter products. We were initially skeptical on whether they will be set properly but they came out beautiful. Super satisfied with the workmanship. Flooring: We wish the color of the floor was a tad lighter but are definitly enjoying the new character of the floors. Some small areas were not worked on properly. Also, we had to make a special request to fill the holes in the floor after the stain went in (which should have been a standard process of refinishing floors). Jose Pachano helped resolve the remaining issues after speaking to the flooring person. Baseboard: This was the only weakest part of the project in terms of quality. We are only 90% satisfied since some areas were not square or were loose (needed more nails) or looked funny since they did not connect well to other pieces of wood nearby. Also, there was lack of imagination on how we would use some areas that we ended up not being able to open some doors. There was plenty of re-work in some areas. Anyways, after all the work was completed, we had to hire a second contractor to finish the job properly. Maybe we should have checked the baseboard throughly but that would have meant that we checked every linear foot. Overall: We will definitly hire Otte again for our future needs. Nevertheless, do note that we spent plenty of time with Jose Pachano to get to same page in terms of design. We were even showing up during lunch times. The more time you spend with your project manager the more happy you will be at the end. Do plenty of reasearch on what colors to chose and what kind of finishes work well for your space. Keep the entire house in your perspective instead of just the area of work. We went with chrome finishes since we wanted a loft/modern look for our house. We also chose grey color tiles for the same reason. Always seek advice from people who are doing the work.

I had my bathroom remodeled with a tub to shower conversion and the adjacent dressing room tiled. Work was completed within the time frame requested--only holdup was due to late delivery of shower base--not the contractor's fault. Otte's workers worked hard and put in a full day's labor and then some. I am pleased with the results and would recommend them to others.

Communication was an issue only in that he was scheduled to pour the step during the time of the big floods this spring. He was diverted to other more urgent projects, which I understand, but did not take the time to call to reschedule. It all worked out in the end.

JMH Contracting did a very good job painting, and a great job installing drywall. He stayed on schedule and budget. He'll underprice everyone. I would definitely hire him again.
