Rain and scattered thunderstorms will be moving into the area Monday night and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe storms aren't expected, but a few storms may be strong, with gusty winds, frequent lightning and brief downpours.

Rainfall may be up to 2 inches across north Georgia, leading to local flooding. But an inch or less is expected in central Georgia.

Gusty winds are expected in advance of the storms, with gusts up to 15 mph on Monday.

The chance of rain and possibly a thunderstorm arrives after midnight and continues through Tuesday, with a high near 69 degrees.

The rain moves out after dark Tuesday night. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, but wind gusts may reach up to 20 mph.

The sun is expected to make an appearance just in time for the weekend.
