Business Overview

Community Involvement

I have volunteered my skills to help elderly neighbors to do repairs on their houses that they can not afford.

I have volunteered with the Maine Army National Gaurd to build an addition to a local school.

I currently help members of our church with home projects that may be beyond their budget.

How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because My father Started me in construction when I was very young and taught me many of the base skills I have today. I joined the army as an engineer and attended both the army school of engineers and the Navy Seabee construction school. After being discharged from the army I worked in Maine doing new home construction and renovations. I moved to the DC area in 2011 and currently live in Maryland with my wife and our 2 children.

We started in this industry in 1998.

We describe our business as Family owned and operated

Extensive built-in shelving for books in my basement. It was a complicated project with lots of quirks--window and beam to work around, narrow staircase that limited the size of what could be done offsite, etc. Evan did a great job keeping me up to date on progress and offering a variety of options, and I like the way the final project looks.

I hired Evan to build a set of bookcases. He was excellent in every respect - walking through ideas before deciding on a final configuration, keeping me up to date every step of the build, and delivering within the time promised. The bookcases are of high quality and look beautiful. I'm quite happy with the result.

We hired Evan to do a closet tear out and repair in our master bedroom. He was phenomenal - prompt, high quality work, clean, and very professional. While we only needed him for a small job at this time, I would not hesitate to contact him for any future projects.

Evan made repairs of water damaged wood on my back porch and front portico. This required rebuilding wood columns, re-framing a small roof, and installing the roof membrane. Evan performed all the work himself. He took care when removing the rotted wood, and constructed the repairs with proper flashing and sealant details. Inside he built a partition wall, installed a new french door and a custom kitchen cabinet which he built in his workshop. Whether it was drywall, electrical, flooring, trim work, vinyl siding, roofing, or doors and windows Evan had the proper tools and know-how to start right in and get it done. He was organized and considerate and made good suggestions.

I was impressed with the work Evan was performing for a neighbor and asked if he could provide an estimate for work I needed done. He completed four projects and did a great job. He explained each step of each project to me and also performed all of the work himself. I would use him for any future work. Highly recommend Evan.

Project: Hire a Handyman
I hired Evan to install a house number sign in my front yard, which entailed installing a 4x4 post in 2 feet of cement and putting together the sign. He did the job within 2 days, and it looks great. When it got done more quickly tham expected, he even reduced the bill from the estimate. The price was very reasonable.I would hire him again!

Just wanted to give a shout-out about Evan Stewart of Stewart & Son's Carpentry. I hired him to duplicate an existing pattern of wainscoting and molding from our downstairs to our dining area. He absolutely transformed the room -- taking time to attend to every detail while problem-solving a difficult layout of columns and "unsquares" in the room. The result is a perfect match to the existing molding and it looks as if it has been there for years. But that is not only what makes him a rock star in my book. It was the fact that he was so reliable- showing up on time and seeing the job through, willing to think through the project with me, and then producing craftsman-level work amidst the chaos of my busy home. It was really difficult to find someone who was willing to do what is considered a small job in the industry. But, not only was this company interested in doing the job --- his professionalism, quality and reliability was equal to someone to whom I was paying a million dollars. I highly recommend Stewart & Son's for all your construction and cabinetry needs!

Evan has done a number of projects for us - from drywall and major ceiling repair and replacement work to bathroom remodeling to a custom media center/bookshelf. All have worked out very well. He is professional, reliable, and easy to communicate with - showing up as planned, seeing projects through to completion and remaining conscious not to disrupt our household more than necessary. In addition, he does a great job of dealing with the inevitable remodeling curveballs in our nearly 40 year old house and proactively correcting mistakes uncovered from prior work by others. We are extremely happy with the experience of working with him and the quality of his work. I highly recommend him and won't hesitate to use him again in the future.
