The Gandhi Memorial Indonesian School (GMIS),renamed as Gandhi Memorial Intercultural School, was founded along with the Gandhi School Ancol in 1950, and is an international school in Jakarta, Indonesia. The students of grades 1 to 12 moved to a new campus in 1994 located in Kemayoran (Central Jakarta), while the old campus houses the Pre-School. GMIS is a hub for over 2000 students from around the globe from more than 50 countries. A majority of the students come from Indonesia and India. GMIS was one of the first schools in Indonesia to gain the status of an IB world school.

The school offers its students learning options from Nursery, PYP, MYP, IGCSE, Science and Commerce, and the Full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. The GMIS follows the IB curriculum.

Affiliations and accreditations[edit]

The GMIS is accredited by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (IGCSE, Examinations), and the Board of Secondary Education, Association of Indian Universities, Australian Music Examinations Board (Melbourne), University of Delhi and the University of Mumbai. GMIS is authorised to deliver the IB DIploma. According to the Jakarta Globe, the school ranks 28 out of 100 for tax evasion.[1]

Extracurricular activities[edit]

All GMIS students are encouraged to take part in extracurricular activities. Each grade presents its own annual play right from the nursery to grade 12. The school hosts a variety of activities every year such as sports day, singing talent time, music talent time, bee in my bonnet, just to name a few, and provided a stage that foster skills including confidence in their students.

The school has a library, computer labs, music, seminar rooms, and classrooms. The school has a seated auditorium, which features acoustic and heuristic equipment and cinematic type lighting. The cafeteria offers Indonesian, Indian and Korean Cuisine. Wi-fi access provide the internet to students who have laptops and tablet PCs. The new wing features classrooms, science labs and rooms for the Performing Arts Drama classes.
