Finish My Site Creator and Own it!

A few years ago I had a dream, and my dream was to create a system for WordPress that made it as easy to use and customize, for people like my Mum, as things like SquareSpace.

I spent literally years working on this, pretty much full time, and have made a number of plugins/components for this that I am quite proud of.

However, being entirely self taught, and learning things like Backbone, loads of JS stuff and so forth along the way, and with companies like WPMUDEV encroaching on the territory I was hoping to monopalise, I have regrettably come to the conclusion, that I do not have the skills to bring my product to market.

However I would dearly like to see it finished. So to that end I am looking for a like minded developer to ‘adopt’ my project, use what I have done and finish it off. All I ask in return is a 30% stake in the resulting company, 30% of the profits and a negotiable initial purchase fee.

I own the name Yousitepro.com and I like the name because the idea with it is that ‘You’ should feel like a ‘Website’ creating ‘Pro’ when you use the system.

For the successful applicant, on the signing of a contract, you will receive full access to all of my source code and I will spend as much time as it takes to explain what is going on and how it works. In addition we can discuss my technical involvement moving forwards (if any).

Essentially my ethos is based around the idea that the end user should almost NEVER be accessing the WordPress admin area. What I want them to do is create, customize and design their site and its content, all from the front end.

I built the project on the assumption that it would be sold as a service, along the lines of SquareSpace, rather than as a downloadable theme, or plugin. Therefore it is fully Multisite ready and has the beginnings of a customer facing interface for buying a subscription and setting up a site and domain name.

I have made everything so that it is based on CSS cascading principles, so the user would start by defining what their ‘default’ styles and their default layout are and thus everything they create is based on this. This ‘default’ starting configuration is something the user would choose when they sign up, and there is a system in place for multiple options .

They are then able to override the style, and layout, widgets etc on every page, category and post should they wish to. So its totally possible for them to have a ‘Power Tools’ website that has say a gardening blog in it. The category for the gardening blog can have its own style and layout. Any posts in that category will inherit that style and layout if they are accessed from the Gardening blog, but every post can also have its own layout and style that can override that.

There are also extensive front end editing tools, that enable the user to firstly create content from the front end, they do this by adding items to their menu, where they can create a Page or a Blog, and if they create a blog they can add posts to their blog from a button displayed there. Any menu they create is re-organisable from the front end.

They can also add, edit and customize widgets all from the front end.

And of course what is created is fully responsive;

For any interested parties I post a full list of all the features here http://yousitepro.com/yousitepro-features/.

You can see a small part of the styling tools I have implemented here (http://yousitepro.com/ics-gradient-editor/)
and these are a few sites that are currently using the system:-

http://equimea.com
http://simonfitchett.com/
http://pjagolf.co.uk/
http://pjasportsturf.co.uk/

Obviously while those sites are fully operational, the system itself should be considered, ‘pre-alpha’ but hopefully it gives some indication of the flexibility of the system.
