The simplest, most powerful website builder in the world. I had the pleasure of working on several of its core components as well shepherding the interface at the heart of it.
When we were building Squarespace 6 back in 2011, we wanted to break free of the limitations of the Content Management Systems of the past. We wanted a way of building layouts in the browser, that was both easy, beautiful and truthful to how the browser views the world.
An early, more technical prototype for building grid-based layouts existed when I joined the company. I pared down the concept and made it pure drag and drop, and invented a way for us to do to do nested layouts. LayoutEngine launched with Squarespace 6, and has been oft-imitated ever since..
In 2013 we re-built it from the ground up into LayoutEngine 2, which today powers both Squarespace 7 as well as our Blog app on iOS and Android.
In 2010, I started work on a book about the influences Lucas and his crew drew on to create Star Wars. It's been almost finished for a long, long time.
While attending my then day job in the computer games industry, I created a number of open source projects, among them two impactful templates.
Taking levels and 2D/3D graphics for the computer games Hitman: Contracts, Hitman: Bloodmoney, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, and Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days developed by Io Interactive and released by Eidos and Square Enix, from conception to completion, including planning, modelling, and setting up gameplay, as well as contributing to everything from story and writing, to sound- and game design.
