  Iona and Steve did an amazing job of completely renovating and redecorating our five bed house in Flushing. The house was disgusting, smelly and dated. Now it's light, fresh and perfect.

  Their attention to detail on everything, quote, work and finishing is very professional. They also project managed external contractors as we were not always able to be on site. They always kept us updated with emails and photos and were constructive in solving any problems that arose. They didn't just do the job we asked of them they made it better than we even imagined. They are neat and tidy too...which some builders forget when working on a house which is actually someone's home!

Work History

We started off in self employment as a partnership, in London with our business "Ecological Garden Design" (hence the "EGD" bit!).
We worked mostly for local schools designing and implementing wildlife gardens & ponds, including hard landscaping.
We then decided to sell up and move back to Iona's homeland - Cornwall.
Steve's father had been a builder, and from his tuition, Steve had most of the skills to renovate our own house before we sold, and taught Iona about preparation, painting & decorating.
Friends saw this work, and several asked us to do similar to their houses, and “EGD Renovations” was born!
We had a 6 month stint painting & decorating in Marbella, Costa del Sol, (worked for the guy who then owned Orange) before finally making it home to Cornwall.
Over the past years 12 years in Cornwall, we have continued to work renovating properties, providing services in painting & decorating, carpentry works & light building works.
Past clients have included St Michael's Hotel & Spa in Falmouth, where we renovated all of the hallways, and a good proportion of the 62 bedrooms, installing flash new en-suites in each of them. Along with other hotels, we have fully renovated large & small private houses, decorated holiday cottages, second homes, hallways, kitchens, lounges & bedrooms, and undertaken external painting works.
To provide a full package, EGD specialise in project management working closely with fellow tradespeople where electrics, plumbing and plastering services are required.

Painting & decorating;
Our painting & decorating skills include a refusal to compromise on quality and a keen eye for detail. Although preparation is the worst part of any renovation/decoration work, it really is the most important part in order to produce a finish we can be proud of. We are very neat and tidy workers, beleving that a clean site is a happy (and efficient) one.

Renovation / Refurbishment;
EGD Renovations undertake all manner of light building works, such as replacement ceilings, knocking through walls, stud walls, drylining, sanding floorboards, sash window repair & draught-proofing, and fitting kitchens & bathrooms.

Project Management;
Project management skills include organising work schedules, preparing itemised labour & material costs, negotiating with and booking in trades, hiring in labour, overseeing all works, dealing with any unexpected problems, keeping clients informed and updated on progress, and ensuring our clients receive what they want, on time, to the finish they require, for the most competitive price.
We are good at handling the trades, speaking with them, understanding their role within the project, and ultimately getting them on-side and on-site to carry out their part, at the time they are needed.

Finally, we have found the biggest thing about working on buildings is that often, things are more straight-forward and simple than some will have you believe! At EGD Renovations, we have a wealth of experience, have come across all sorts of scenarios, and don't suck teeth!
